Crystal Bay, Nusa Penida, Bali

   Indonesia  Bali Sea
Crystal Bay is a small bay which is protected from the currents around the island Nusa Penida, one of the sister islands east of Bali in the Lombok strait. Crystal Bay consists of sandy channel in the middle with on the north-side a sloping reef that turn into a dropoff close to Toyapakeh strait. The sloping reef can be challenging for Scuba diving when the planning is not right, strong currents aswell as downcurrent can rush to the bay. The are 3 cleaning station for Ocean Sunfish at this dive site where this large pelagic happens to appear between june and oktober when the water temperature is sometimes less then 20 degrees celcius. The top of the sloping reef contains some nice corals and also for the macro lovers this is a good place to dive, nudibranch, small shrimp, snake eels, seahorse and much more can be found at this dive site. There is a batcave with underwater entrance that can be excessed when the conditions are right, the hole in the ceiling of the cave can make some dramatic lighting. Crystal Bay is mainly reached by boat (45 minute ride) from Bali's mainland.

Castle Rocks -False bay-Cape peninsula

   South Africa  Indian Ocean
Castle Rocks is situated just before the Cape Point Nature Reserve.Travelling from Cape town you will pass through Fishhoek and Simons town. The Coastal drive in itself is a tourist attraction. After the Millers Point turn off you will see a large outcrop of rocks. Not to hard to see why they are called Castle Rocks.Parking is on the side of the Road, about 15 meters above sea level,so you kit up here and walk down to the entry spot.

False Bay cleans up with a North westerly and South Westerly wind, and on good days the viz is more than 20meters.The sheltered Bay varies in depth from 3-7meters and is ideal for snorkelling and Training dives.Once you leave the Bay and drop down the rocky reefs you can get about 18meters.The outside of the sheltered bay can become surgy so care should be taken with novice divers on the change of the tide. This area has been a marine reserve for years so all the Delights of False bay can all be seen in one dive. There are quite a few different fish species the obvious are the Roman's,John Brown, the Cape Knife jaw,Zebra's,Streepies and of course the National fish the Galjoen.Three species of shy shark,Gully shark and Soupfin are regularly spotted the juvenile Dusky's put in a rare appearance.
Large orange wall sponges jut out along the walls and thousands of micro organisms create stunning colours along the dive.Gas flame Nudibranchs and the cape dorid are some of the numerous nudibranchs to be seen.
Castle rocks is one of the best shore dives on the Peninsula.

Corsair Fighter, Oahu Hawaii

   United States  Pacific
CORSAIR FIGHTER The U.S.Navy Gull Wing Corsair Fighter (F4U-1A). Lieutenant Holden made a "dead stick landing" in 1945 on a training mission after running out of fuel. He was rescued, leaving behind an "intact" relic with the canopy open, tail hook down, propeller bent, and instruments & gull-wing clearly visible at a depth of 107 feet. This rare piece of history hasn't been salvaged due to its depth and remoteness. The "oasis" of marine life supports an ecosystem of incredible variety, 63 years in the making. Which include fields of garden eels, horned helmet shells nearby, as well as a rare crocodile eel. Large pelagic fish such as barracuda, jacks, or stingray frequent this site for feeding, and herding large balls of bait & reef fish. With a white sand bottom, visibility is usually 100 to 150 feet even on winter days and it's only a 20 minute boat ride from our east side harbor.

• Jiwani
o Exploring the fossilize coral reef on the top of the Plato 200meters above the sea level, a total of 30 different species of the corals were found
o Observed the rehabilitation of the mangroves in the Delta of Dasht River supervised by IUCN Jiwani station.
o The three high cliff turtle’s beaches protected by WWF-Pakistan, last year only they have released. Over 100,000. Baby turtles in to the sea.
o Survey the underwater cost of Jiwani hopping to sea some sort of coral formation but to our surprise, no concentration of corals were found under the sea near (Jiwani harbor, turtle beaches, Turtle watching cliff in the east of Jiwani) but lot of sponges, burgundies, ferns and fans, soft corals some hard corals but small patches grown under the rocks where they were protected by the harsh monsoon weather condition.
• Astola Island
The island is situated in the northern Arabian Sea, approximately 25 kilometers off the mainland coast, 40 kilometers East-Southeast of Pasni Harbor, in Balochistan province.
Geographical coordinates: 25°07'N, 63°52'E
Length approximately 6 kilometers
Width approximately 500 meters
Altitude: (average and/or max. & min.) 0 - 200 m
The island is subject to strong wave attack during the southwest monsoons, when wave height exceeds 3.5 meters. The coastline therefore suffers from severe erosion and most of the littoral material is lost to the sea.
The island supports some rare and vulnerable species of animals such as endanger species Green turtle (Chelonia mydas) and quite possibly critically endanger species Hawksbill turtle (Eretmochelys imbracata)
The site is of special value for maintaining the genetic and ecological diversity of the area. The beauty of Astola is that several different ecosystems can be seen on the island. The ecosystems and the plants and animals found there are no longer common elsewhere in Pakistan.
The gorgeous under water world is amazing different forms of cnidarians, Molluscs, Worms, Fishes, Echinoderms, Crustaceans, and other Vertebrates and invertebrates were found in abundance.

Coral reefs are a vital natural resource found in tropical waters throughout the world (Spalding et al. 2001). They are important not only to adjacent coastal communities, where they are often a source of livelihood, but also to national and international communities, where they contribute in various ways to oceanic production and deliver other significant benefits related to their role in tourism, recreation and coastal protection, and as indicators for climate change and waste treatment,. As more research findings indicate that the species richness and biodiversity contained in reef ecosystems may not regenerate once destroyed, the conservation of coral reefs has become a major concern, people dependent on coral reefs are some of the most vulnerable groups in many coastal and island communities, because reef and reef-based resources are often their primary means of food production, source of income and livelihood
