To enjoy the impressive abundance of fish, the best way is to surround the reef. On the east you find huge Stone coral formations, the west side is covered with mainly Acropora corals and Fire corals. You find big groups of Sweetlips, Bannerfishes and Butterflyfishes as well as frequently Eagle rays.

Western group of blocks of Aruk Giftun, several nice covered blocks standing on shallow sandy bottom, remarkably rich of fish.
Aruk Gigi
Max. depth 11m, 50min. journey
Northern group of blocks of Aruk Giftun, about 7 ergs standing on shallow sandy bottom in direction west-east. Plenty of small reef fish, small morays, Blue-spotted stingrays and Lionfishes.
Erg Maksur
Max. depth 14m, 50min. journey
Southern group of blocks of Aruk Giftun, in the middle a big split erg (Erg Maksur). All block are nicely covered with Soft corals, there is a lot of swarm fish and sometimes chance to see a White-tip reef shark. The site is suitable for Navigation dives.

Gli Scogli di Isca di Amantea sono una tappa obbligata per chi ama immergersi tra scogliere e madrepore mediterranee. Istituita nel 1991 dal WWF locale, l'Oasi blu degli Scogli di Isca è un'area protetta che si distende tutt'intorno questi scogli, che si inabissano fino ad incontrare a 20 metri di profondità uno splendido fondale. L'incontro tra rocce sommerse e una distesa di sabbia ha dato vita infatti ad una flora e fauna marina ricchissime. In queste acque, oltre a praterie di posidonia, è facile vedere anche delfini e tartarughe Caretta Caretta. Gli scogli, resti di un antico promontorio, sbucano dal mare a poche centinaia di metri alla spiaggia di Amantea. Per raggiungere l'area è necessario intraprendere la SS18 Tirrenica inferiore venendo da nord e, una volta a Belmonte Calabro, seguire la segnaletica stradale WWF.

Great Dive Site. Lots of Marine Life ,Snappers, Eagle rays, Tarpons, Turtles lots of Juvenile Fish. The best Shallow Dive Site in Belize. The site is very close to shore.It is like diving in a aquarium. You will see a lot of nurse sharks and Blue Tangs plus a lot of Jacks.

About 2km south from Umm Gamar a big plateau is raising out of the deep water up to 12m. On its west side it is sloping down slighty to 22m, east side dropping down to 50m. On the plateau - 2 big ergs, surrounded by several smaller ones. Turtles, Barracudas, big Snappers. Frequently you can watch White-tip reef sharks.

As you enter the ocean from the jetty at Plya Chica, it is a short swim to the left of the bay and you find the drop off on the reef wall at about 15 meters depth depending on tides. Here is a little wreck of an old steel boat on perfect condition, even the propeller. It has become part of the reef in it´s little sheltered recess off the reef wall. It is a great place to dive because of the wreck and the abundance of oppotunities to photograph marine life with both interesting backdrops and natural lighting. I recommend this sight to any diver no matter what their interests in diving is.

Somosomo Strait (Fijian for ‘good water’) has strong tidal currents, which provide a constant flow of nutrients, idyllic for soft corals and diverse fish life. Rainbow Reef is world-renowned for the spectacular soft coral sites. This is a fringing reef almost 32 km long on the southwest corner of Vanua Levu and easily accessed from Taveuni. Not only the best Fiji scuba diving, but one of best scuba diving vacation sites in the world. If you haven’t dived Taveuni, you must put it on your ‘to do’ list!
Dive sites in Taveuni are exciting and varied with sheer reef walls from 3000 feet to the surface, shallow sunlit coral gardens and current-flushed channels. You can even find “gravel groveling” and “muck diving” in protected bays on the Taveuni coast.
So expect to be amazed by Taveuni underwater treasures, with 1500 species of fishes including dozen of rare or endemic species, 1000 known species of invertebrates and thousands more discoveries predicted.
