SD

The SD Card (Secure Digital) is a highly sophisticated, highly secure memory device about the size of a postage stamp. SD Memory Cards have revolutionized information, entertainment and communications by putting advanced digital storage technology quite literally at your fingertips.
Jointly developed by Panasonic, SanDisk and Toshiba, the SD Card weighs approximately two grams. SD Memory Cards are non-volatile, which means they do not require power to retain the information stored on them. They are solid-state devices, so they have no moving parts to skip or break down. SD Cards are now available up to 512mb with the possibility of up to 4 gigabytes in the near future.
The SD Card can be used in a variety of digital products; digital music players, cellular phones, handheld PCs (HPCs), digital cameras, digital video camcorders, smart phones, car navigation systems, MP3 players, and electronic books.
The difference being that SD cards were designed to hold protected
(copyrighted) data like songs. Not all cameras that use SD cards can use
MMC cards so be sure to read your owner manual before buying additional
cards.
