Macro

Photography of small subjects.

Strictly, a macro photograph is one where the image recorded on the film is larger than the subject is. The term is used loosely however, to describe an image which can easily be printed or projected `larger than life'.

Cameras are usually adapted for macro photography by adding a lens extension tube or a supplementary lens, or in the case of an SLR by fitting a lens which can focus at very short distances.
