The Filing Cabinet holds all the Library records. You can see all information
stored in the database for each individual record in the library here.
Each record has a unique reference number automatically assigned. This is
also used as the filename when saving for the web.
You can filter these records using the form toolbar.
Details tab
This is the default tab and contains the main record information
- Title:
The text displayed by the image (online).
- Category:
The category that the image is assigned to.
- Place Taken:
Alternate index usually used for the place where the shot
was taken.
- Photographers:
The photographer/author/creator who took the
picture/captured the image etc.
- SKU:
A unique catalogue number for the image. Optional but useful to
assign the photographers own ID. You can use your own format or the Derive
Catalogue # command button
- Photo Article:
The full URL where a related photo article or extra
info can be found on the deployment website (if applicable). If http is
not included it is assumed to be the path from the company website root.
- Order Priority:
The order that the products are displayed in. This is
useful for web deployment as images with the highest level appear on the first
page. This is also useful to designate your best images. Level 1 images are
shown in the Picture of the Day box on your website homepage.
- Royalty Free:
designates the image should be royalty free
- Discontinued:
hides the image from display online
- Saved To The Web:
Flag to confirm saved to the web. When checked the
record has already been saved to the web. Uncheck to regenerate during the
next Save To The Web operation.
- Date:
Date the record was created (auto generated)
The other fields on this tab are for keyword generation. Enter a keyword
string to be included when you run the keyword generator. Use for keywords not
already included in the category or place taken fields. Click Set to copy
the current keywords into memory (to carry them forward to new records). Click Get
to retrieve the stored keywords and enter them in the keyword field.
When completed click the Derive Keywords command button. You will then
see the Keyword string created by the Keyword Generator. This text cannot be
directly edited.
File Info tab
The file format and specifications for the current image are shown here.
- File Path:
shows the path to graphics file. You can reset this by
clicking the File Path command button, which brings up a dialog.
- Click the File Info button to read and store the current he size of
the image file.
IPTC tab
IPTC is a widely used format to store text inside certain image files. It is
only utilised for JPEG files in this application. If you check Use IPTC on the
Options Form the IPTC caption will be use to generate the record name and
keywords when you drag/drop in IMAGExplorer
- IPTC Caption:
The text stored with the image in the IPTC caption
field. Use to watermark your copyright and other info.
- IPTC Keywords:
The text stored inside the image in the IPTC keywords
field.
- IPTC Copyright:
The text stored inside the image in the IPTC Copyright
field. This is auto generated by Photo-Db from your company details.
Click the button to auto set the IPTC caption.
The buttons on the Filing Cabinet form toolbar are
- Add
sets the current image on the IMAGExplorer to the current record.
This is the best way to reassign images to existing records.
- Report
opens a report showing all the image files in the library. This
command is very useful when your form is filtered as it shows only those
images in the filtered collection.
- Open
opens the current image in IMAGEditor.
- Flip Thru
is a hands free alternative method (to the navigation
buttons) to move though all the records. Press once to start, press again to
stop.
- Dupes
is a special filter that shows all duplicate images in the
library (by file path). Remove the filter by clicking the filter button on the
application toolbar (or by applying another filter)
- Find File
instigates a search
On the bottom left of the Filing Cabinet form you will find the record
navigation buttons. They are used to cycle through the records, and jump to the
first/last record, and create a new record.
