Find File

The Find File form has an almost identical look and feel to the file search utility built in to the Windows operating system (see Start menu Find command and select Files Or Folders).

However, our version has several enhancements built in which are especially useful for working with image files:

  1. You can see the actual image previewed (of course!).
  2. You can save searches and add new searches to them; an ideal way to cull duplicate files across multiple drives.
  3. Find File has the ability to narrow criteria by selecting from a list such options as ‘contains’.
  4. When trying to free hard disk space it is useful to delete files rather than send them to the recycle bin. With this form you have both options!

To instigate a search, enter the name of the file in the Text box and press the Search command button. During a search pressing this button again will cancel the find file operation. You can also press your enter key to run the same action.

During a search the status bar at the bottom of the form will change to reflect the directory being searched.

When a search is completed you will see a list of files meeting your criteria. This list includes any file type, not just image files. Image files are easily distinguished by having an icon to the left of the filename. You can click on the file to see a preview at the top left of the form.

The Find File form has three tabs: Search, Delete, and Advanced
