IMAGExplorer

IMAGExplorer is the main form of the Photo-Db offline application. It looks like the Windows Explorer (and behaves very much like it).

However, IMAGExplorer has an extra section not found on the Windows Explorer. Beneath the computers’ directories there is a folder called My Photo Library

The main purpose of IMAGExplorer is adding records. Use it to Drag and drop files in any one of 50 image file formats into My Photo Library

The other big difference from Windows Explorer is that IMAGExplorer only shows image files.

Note: Because you cannot see other file types you cannot drag/drop directories (this behaviour is by design).

The thing to remember when using IMAGExplorer is right-click with the mouse. There are several hidden Menus that appear when you right click the Image Explorer form. The menus are context sensitive to where you click.

On the file list…

  • Black text in the list means that you have a folder open on your computer.
  • Blue text in the list means that you are looking at library records.
  • Red text in the list means that you are looking at the shopping cart

Network use

It is possible to copy files across network drives by dragging and dropping them but the drives must be mapped prior to opening the IMAGExplorer.

Shopping Cart

This is a temporary place to drop files. Ideal for making collection of images for a report, contact sheet, or saving to thumbnails (for sending to clients). If you have the billing module installed you can make orders easily, even in high stress environments like telephone sales. Just open the Orders form and click Fill from Cart.

Troubleshooting

If you cannot see a library category, select the top item and select reset on the right click menu.
