Welcome to Underwaterphotography.com!

Way to start your entry with a BANG!

What camera and lens did you use to take this shot?

message I used a Canon 400D in a Ikelite housing with a DS51 strobe. The lens was the standard 18-55mm kit lens that came with the camera. I havent found a good substitute yet (that I can afford).

message Wow you are only using the kit lens... even more amazing.

Try our the Canon 60mm or the 100mm macro. Both are great macro lenses.

message Macro lenses are expensive and i kind of like the option to have a zoom. I'm considering to trade my 400D housing for a G9 or G10 with housing. I will have to live with shutter lag, but the kit will be lighter and easier to travel with.
Its the age old discussion between the heaviest, and most expensive but best, against the lightest, cheapest, but not so good.

message Lots of my friends use the G9 and the new G10.

Their shots rival those of guys with DSLRs.

You can checkout what the G9 can do in the hands of a master.

Yes G9 is a very good choice and Edvin does have hands of a master, he can even juggle with G9's he's that good. Though I think he has an advantage over me, he is lower to the ground so when he drops them, they don't break. laugh laugh laugh

Brian don't tease Edvin about his short stature! LOL

You make him sound like Mini me.

message  WOW!!!

By looking at all your photos, I realize how much I still have to learn.

But it is nice to see that it is possible to do great photos with a G9, so i don't have to lug my 8 kg 400D, Ikelite, strobe package around.

Hope you dont mind that I added all of you (that I could find) as flickr contacts.

Friis,

No worries my friend. We are a happy group of u/w photographers here.

You might want to checkout the Online tutorial that is available here to members for a small fee. It was written by Benny Sutton the admin of the site. Also a well known u/w photographer. smile
