| Dear Georges, You have requested a review of your photo. Remember that critical comments are meant to help you improve your work with an analytic review. The objective is to see you here on UWP as a winner one day ! As you already know the foreword, I will directly start with my review : Photo Critique First impression Hmm ... one more nudibranch … Technical ( score from 1-6, best is 6 ) : Exposure : 4, Colours: 4, Sharpness: 3, DOF ( depth of field ) : 4, Contrast : 5 Suggested Solution : You can improve a part of the colours, contrast and exposure problems using the RAW (or DNG) file format. With this file, you can work in post production on the computer and correct them a bit. Sharpness could be better; you should keep the AI auto focus mode for the beginning … it’s easier…. post production on the computer can’t help unfortunately for that Try also to work a bit on the DOF while shooting. ... | Raoul Caprez 16756 point member

| | Composition : The animal is centred and too small in the frame. The angle of shooting is not optimum. Suggested Solution : Almost fill the frame with the animal. You will see, it gives a better impact. An upwards angle of shooting would be better as well… in fact, never shoot downwards In general, don’t put your subject in the center, put your animal a little bit on the side (on the left in that case); that’s help to break the symmetry. Think of the rules of third. Subject I often say that Nudibranches are underwater photographers friends: nice colours, not too quick, … They usually give the opportunity to try different compositions and effects. | Raoul Caprez 16756 point member

| | Suggested Solution : Try to be a little bit closer to your subject. With such small animals, we're “never” close enough For the approach, you can try to have the animal looking at you, so we can catch the “look”, which gives a good impression. At least, again, try to be minimum at the same height as the animal. If you can be a little bit under the animal, it would be more impressive … but it’s no always possible with the Nudibranches ! Epilogue You start with a very small animal ! You have the "eye" to find them; that's already very good and essential to have such picture :-). Now, when you shoot, just think that your pictures must tell something or give an emotion. With that idea, and thinking a bit more about composition, I’m sure you will have good results. All the best and happy bubbles. Raoul (UWP Photo Critic) | Raoul Caprez 16756 point member
