DearPaul, Thank for your latest submission to the UWP contest As you know my "classic" foreword already from my former critique, I will directly start with my review ( see next post ). | Rico Besserdich 19675 point member

Photo Critique First impression Paul needs a proper closeup lens ;-) Technical ( score from 1-6, best is 6 ) Exposure : 4, Colours: 3, Sparpness: 3, DOF ( depht of field ) : 4, Contrast : 3 Suggestions : Always double check while shooting where your camera wants to focuss on. In your photo, it was the the upper right of the christmas tree worm.....not the ideal point of focus ;-) You'll also need to check out your white balance settings...or even do a manual white balance. An external closeup lens ( like from Olympus or INON ) would help you to get much closer to the subject. | Rico Besserdich 19675 point member

Composition Great range of possibilities.....christmas tree worm AND a blenny ! Well, but way too much negative space around. Suggestions : With getting closer ( usage of closeup lens ?? ) this could be a stunning shot. I can see the limits of your camera here, so I don't want to complain too much. More Blenny & christmas tree worm and less coral around would do it ;-) I also would like to mention that a lowered angle of shooting would help a lot. Only people who are around with a snorcel shoot downwards ;-) Upwards or "eye to eye" is always better and this is what people love to view ! | Rico Besserdich 19675 point member

Subject The scenery is cool ! Suggestions : You were unfortunetly bounded to technical restrictions. Have a look to the portfolio of Brian Mayes. He is the UWP world champ 2010 and he made his shots with a Canon G9 and 1-2 INON closeup adaptors attached. This might show you, that also compact cams can take winning shots ;-) Brians photos could be a great inspiration for you. AND : No, I am not getting payed by INON. It's really just a suggestion ;-) Epilogue You have the eye, you have the nessessary patience....now go and upgrade your gear and I am sure that we will see you with winning shots here, soon All the best, Rico website | Rico Besserdich 19675 point member
