Dear Vincent, You have requested a review of your photo. It’s my turn to write you critical comments to help you to improve your work with an analytic review. As you know, the objective is to see you here on UWP as a winner one day ! If you want to answer me, please wait until my review has been completed; as photo critics, we do this job as volunteers; a "thank you" is always appreciated As you already know the foreword, I will directly start my review : | Raoul Caprez 16758 point member

Photo Critique : First impression : Great subject for a winner picture Technical ( score from 1-6, best is 6 ) : Exposure : 3, Colours: 4, Sharpness: 3, DOF ( depth of field ) : 4, Contrast : 5 Suggested Solution : Your picture looks good ! Of course, sharpness on the eye and exposure could be improved a bit, but this animal is not so easy to light correctly … especially during the night (the eye is a bit overexposed). You can change slightly your settings and your strobe position. For me, the body would have deserved to be just a bit more shown (more lighted)….. as you know it has amazing colours :-). I like the way you fixed the move of the tentacles. Then, if you decide to play more often in the contest, it could be a good idea to sign in for a pro account, it’s better for your pictures size (quality). | Raoul Caprez 16758 point member

Composition : You are close to your subject and you play with a diagonal : good The tentacle down the frame is just a bit too close of the border of the frame Suggested Solution : This composition works well ! I would have let just a bit more place down the frame … but maybe it's the problem of the copyright position. In general, to emphasise a subject with a simple composition, it's good to have a neutral background like you have. | Raoul Caprez 16758 point member

Subject Nice subject and not so common to meet … even if they are a lot of it in the contest for our pleasure ! Thank you to share this one with us. Definitely a perfect animal for a winner picture. Suggested Solution : This animal requires maybe another approach for a winner picture (this kind of composition wins already something here). You could try a real face to face using the open tentacle for a impressive graphic picture. But, your approach is good ! | Raoul Caprez 16758 point member

Epilogue I like to say that pictures must tell something, they should pass on a message or transmit an emotion. For sure this lightning animal provokes a reaction to the spectator ! Looking at your other pictures I think you do a good start in the contest ! Welcome ! Well, I’m now looking forward to see your next post. All the best and happy bubbles.
