My first pygmy seahorse. I would have loved to have him/her looking toward the camera but I m just happy he/she is in focus and I didn t cut off any body parts. These critters are much tinier and harder to see than I expected.

message Hi Larry, thanks for your comment. No, this photo was taken during a night dive without snoot but special strobe settings.

Strobe SB900 (Nikon system): I-TTL/BL/WB -1,3 rear mode

best, Roland

message Now you really got me hooked, how did you get the SB900 underwater ?. Wasn't aware anyone made an enclosure for that strobe. I reviewed your website and can see the amazing work especially the jelly fish pics ....

message Thank you for the compliment Larry. Happy that you like the Jelly shots too. There is a german company producing housings for the SB900. Have a look here:

message Amazing... then would assume the SB900 with the Sealux housing is designed for relatively close work with a 60mm lens ?

I currently use twin Ikelite D-160 strobes and a Sola 800 for video with a D7000. I've played with snoots on sandy bottom shooting seahorses both attached strobe and remote fired with a slave.

Guess I need to buy more toys for underwater pics, thanks for sharing.
