message this message is important Dear Chales,

Thank for your latest submission to the UWP contest smile

You've requested a critique of your photo.

How it works:

I will structure my critique into a few chapters and will list some suggested solutions to problem zones (if there are any ).

My critique will be like 3-4 posts in total, please wait with any answers until
you see the note "photo critic completed" - thanks smile

As we photo critics do this job as volunteers and as this service ist free of charge, at least a feedback on how this critique was useful to you is always appreciated.

Photo critiques here at UWP are meant to give a helping hand with an analytic review & to suggest solutions.

The objective is to see you here as winner one day smile

And here we go ( critique/review starts with the next post ) !

First impression

Is this painted?

Technical ( score from 1-6, best is 6 )

Exposure : 4, Colours: 2, Sharpness: 3, DOF ( depth of field ) : 3, Contrast : 2

Suggestions :

One may like it or not, but this picture has a clear psychodelic approach! Maybe you wanted that? Then put it into creative – manipulated category. Yes, one could even speak of an own "painting" style smile

But if not, we have to state that this picture is completely overdone! Colors, contrasts, even sharpening of a minor sharp image. How much did you crop? The lesser the cropping the more details you can show on a picture and it looks more natural.

It's hard for me to give you any suggestions. For that I should see the original picture. But I strongly advise you to use external flashes!

Composition :

Close smile
Almost centered frown

message  Suggestions :

I like how close this subject is. I hope it came through using the macro setting and not through too much cropping. Don't center the subject. Place it within the rule of thirds.

Subject :

Blennies are lovely creatures and always worth a shot.

Suggestions :

See above.

Epilogue :

We're glad to have newbies on board smile And everybody started as a newbie smile
You can make your way!

message Thank you very much for your critique.

I did use macro zoom and did not crop but yes i do agreeit would look better if it was not centered. And yes my next purchase gonna be external flash and a macro lens.

Thank you for your time.
