Living in Whyalla, South Australia I have been diving for 10yrs and taking underwater photos for the past 5-6yrs. Currently I am using a Subal housed Nikon F80 with 18-35mm lense and Inon strobe. My first underwater camera was a Sea&Sea MotormarineIIex with wide angle and macro lenses. I still have this system and still use it - the flexibility of switching from macro to wide-angle is great.
My favourite photo dive sites change depending on my mood - but favourites are Fiji and Vanuatu - you cannot beat warm, clear water. Closer to home Australian giant cuttlefish breed in local waters adjacent Whyalla over winter - this is a photographers delight with the number and accessibility of these amazing animals and the mating displays they produce.
