message For several years, I have taken underwater video with a full-sized rig (Sony HD camcorder in an Ocean Images housing with lighting system). I am thinking about selling the rig and going small, i.e., a compact/mini sytem, something like a Flip Ultra HD or a Kodak Playsport, in an Ikelite housing, with a yet-to-be-determined LED light(s). I recognize I would sacrifice video quality, though I am not sure how much. I really only shoot for my own pleasure (and the pleasure of those hearty soles I subject to my efforts). It would be nice not to have to delegate an entire bag when traveling to my video gear. At the same time, I still want at least ok video quality. Has anyone had experience with the mini camcorders like the Flip or the Playsport? If so, how well do they work? In exchange for 10-15 pounds in weight, what will I be giving up? Is it worth it? Your observations and opinions are welcome.
