This 3 cm baby flying fish was caught just away from a small raft of sea weed and the riot of colors shape was to much to let pass by. Enjoy

Wonderful dive in Fakarava lagoon south pass in the Tuamotus. White tips black tips and gray sharks everywhere literally 100 s all around. We did 2 dives and 9 snorkel runs on incoming tides over a 10 day period and never got tired of it

message  DearAlberto,
Thank for your latest submission to the UWP contest smile

You've requested a critique of your photo. How it works :
I will structure my critique into a few chapters and will list some suggested solutions to problem zones ( if there are any ). My critique will be like 2-3 posts in total, please wait with any answers until you see the note 'photo critic completed' - thanks smile

As we photo critics do this job as volunteers, a 'thank you' is always appreciated (no 'thanks' = no more critiques ).

Photo critiques here at UWP are meant to give a helping hand with an analytic review & to suggest solutions. The objective is to see you here as winner one day smile

And here we go ( critique/review starts with the next post ) ! cool

First impression
Great action shot!

Technical ( score from 1-6, best is 6 )
Exposure : 5, Colours: 5, Sparpness: 3, DOF ( depht of field ) : 3, Contrast : 4

Suggestions :
smile considering exposure and colours
what disturbs is that this nice shrimp doesn't look sharp. This can be due to the aperture (too high), then your DOF is limited or a low shutter speed (if the subject is moving). As the eye of the moray is sharp I opt for the later. Try to have at least a 1/125s shutter in these action shots

Composition
the only thing which disturbs me a bit is the red/green piece of something in the foreground.

Suggestions :
maybe by shooting a bit upwards you could have avoided this. To get a real winning shot the best would be a nice dark background which makes your moray stand out nicely (but I know that you can't always dig a hole in the reef aw, shucks
But try to keep this in mind while yo...

message  Subject
great subject especially with such a colourful shrimp. Not easy though as they tend to move around all the time

Suggestions :
Watch them for a while and try to frame calmly the scene. Start with a smaller aperture so that your DOF is higher which keeps all important things in focus smile On the G12 that's f/8

Epilogue
You're close smile Keep up the good work and why not considering a pro account, which would display your beautiful pics bigger to the uwp community smile
Hope to see some more Italian pics soon.

All the best,
Ciao
