This 3 cm baby flying fish was caught just away from a small raft of sea weed and the riot of colors shape was to much to let pass by. Enjoy

Wonderful dive in Fakarava lagoon south pass in the Tuamotus. White tips black tips and gray sharks everywhere literally 100 s all around. We did 2 dives and 9 snorkel runs on incoming tides over a 10 day period and never got tired of it

message  ------ POST NR. 1 --------------------------

Dear Wowie,

Thank for your latest submission to the UWP contest smile

You've requested a critique of your photo.

How it works:

I will structure my critique into a few chapters and will list some suggested solutions to problem zones (if there are any ).

My critique will be like 3-4 posts in total, please wait with any answers until
you see the note "photo critic completed" - thanks smile

As we photo critics do this job as volunteers and as this service ist free of charge, at least a feedback on how this critique was useful to you is always appreciated.

Photo critiques here at UWP are meant to give a helping hand with an analytic review & to suggest solutions.

The objective is to see you here as winner one day smile

And here we go ( critique/review starts with the next post ) !

First impression

Are rare opportunity greatly taken!

Technical ( score from 1-6, best is 6 )

Exposure : 6, Colours: 5, Sharpness: 5, DOF ( depth of field ) : 5, Contrast : 5

Suggestions :

Congrats, Wowie. A such a rare opportunity and you made a technical top shot. So wherever I critique here, it's complaining on a very high level and will not be detrimental to your effort!

On the technical side I would love to see a bit larger DOF so the point of sharpness also touches the eyes in a crisp matter.

Colors. if you slightly desaturate, maby you can gain some structures on the region you find prolonging the mouth on the left side til under the blue spots, where it's i minimal bit too bright. Ohhh, dear Wowie, how was this picky of me...

message  Composition :

nicly close, in a slight diagonal, cut where it may be cut smile Short: Congrats, Wowie!

Suggestions :

You can add a bit more drama with shooting a few degrees more frontal. But this is another really picky advice ;-)

Subject :

Cardinal fishes don't move the audience. But with eggs in their mouth, they are real crackers!

Suggestions :

This shot is far beyond a documentary shot smile This one deserves a applause!

Epilogue :

You have the eye of a photgrapher, the patience to get your shot and you've got the skills to work with your great gear for excellent quality. Go on like this and I predict you a successful future!

All the best,

Henry
