This is not a night dive !
I wanted to make the beautiful patterns and colours stand out, so I chose to make the background black.
Photo shot on El Puertito, Tenerife.
Olympus E330, 14-54mm, single Ikelite DS125 strobe.
The eye in the sand. Greater weever buried in the sand waiting for some "food" passing by.
PAINTED. Center of an anemone, wit a very special colour pattern, and on top of it a little bit special illumination.

Friendly octopus posing.
Photo shot on Palm Mar divesite, Tenerife.
Olympus E330, 14-54mm, single Ikelite DS125 strobe.
shortlistedShortlisted!
Bumblebee shrimp, Gnatophyllum elegans. A very common species, but difficut to see, and more difficult to find one well placed to take a good picture of it.
Nudibranch in Tenerife.
I like the colours of this one and the flash also shows the colours on the otherwise barren rock. Unfortunately I hadn't the macro lens on, so the image is not pinsharp. Hope that you like it anyway.
Olympus E330, 14-54mm.
Caulerpa, a very beautyful algae. I wonder why there are only very few such pictures on contests or forum. May be swimming things are more interesting...
Take off !
Another friendly green turtle with a friendly diver on El Puertito, Tenerife.
Olympus E330, 14-54mm, single Ikelite DS125 strobe.
Light and shadow. Anemone (Telmatactis cricoides) with selective illumination.
Dangerzone !!!
Fiercelooking animals. However the homo sapiens is probably the more fearsome.
Animals shot in Egypt, Tenerife, Indonesia and the Maldives. The diver is my wife (not fearsome :-) ). The background is Palm Mar cave on Tenerife.

Christian gets this Month's Photoshop Hotshot
The Phantom. A small scorpionfish with selective illumination.

Mr Wrinkle,
He came close, so even with the 14 mm, he quite fill out the frame. El Puertito, Tenerife.
Olympus E330, 14-54mm, single Ikelite DS125 strobe.
shortlistedShortlisted!
Good viz and sun shining! Perfect conditions for such a pic. Personnally I like specially the reflection under the surface.
Peek-a-boo.
Seahorse hiding on the divesite, El Puertito, Tenerife. There was a yellow one rather close. I'll put that on another day. A little challenging to shoot with the 14-54 mm, but I think it went ok.
Olympus E330, 14-54mm, Ikelite DS125.
shortlistedShortlisted!
Like crystal (tiger moray).
The impressive set of teeth reminds me of crystal.
The lightning is on purpose by lightning close-up very much from one side. Creating a coming out of shadow effect.
Olympus E330, 14-54mm, single Ikelite DS125 strobe.
shortlistedShortlisted!
Green turtle on the descend.
My aim was to catch the turtle after a breath of air. I really like the patterns on this animal.
Olympus E330, 14-54mm, single Ikelite DS125 strobe.
shortlistedShortlisted!
Virgin del Carmen
The statue was put down in the ocean for protection of the fishermen. The diver is my wife. Photo shot on the Palm Mar Cave divesite in Tenerife.
Olympus E330, 14-54mm, single Ikelite DS125 strobe.
Disco crab!!! Arrow crab in front of an anemone. I adjusted a very narrow DOP to get the anemone completely blured. So the tips appear just as blue spots.
Palm Mar cave.
Inside the entrance of Palm Mar cave. A beautiful divesite with lots of stuff to entertain you, including the fierce looking tiger moray. The cross is a grim reminder of the unfortunate dives having lost their lives exploring the Cave.
I am scared of me !!!!!!!!!!!!
I think that this Tiger Moray has a very amusing expression. Maybe it comes from closing his mouth with that set of teeth.
Photo shot on Palm Mar Cave, Tenerife.
Olympus E330, 14-54mm, single Ikelite DS125 strobe.
shortlistedShortlisted!

Incredibly blue water around El Hierro, the most occidental of the Canary Islands. Picture taken at the last minute of the last dive of the regional championship, and part of the winning portfolio.
Tenerife under and above the surface.
A try with a over/under shot on snorkel. Photo is taken at Punta Teno, the very North Western point of the Island. The coastline is the beautiful cliffs of Los Gigantes. It is really worth a visit.
Close to the dome !
Another friendly green turtle on the El Puertito divesite on Tenerife. It came very close, so the strobe didn't lighten up the eyes. But I kind of like it anyway.
Olympus E330, 14-54mm, single Ikelite DS125 strobe.
A little bit special gorgonian fan. Not the usual shape, but not so boring smile
Picture taken in the southeast of Gran Canaria, at -30 m.
Big octopus and my wife
Nice dive on the Palm Mar divesite, Tenerife
Olympus E330, 14-54mm, single Ikelite DS125 strobe
Green Turtle
One of the extremely friendly green turtles in El Puertito Bay on Tenerife. A must do dive if you visit the island. They will come close :-)
Olympus E330, 14-54mm, single Ikelite DS125 strobe.
Tiger Moray
I wonder how he/she closes his/her mouth !!!
Shot on Tenerife, Palm Mar Cave.
Olympus E330, 14-54mm, single Ikelite DS125 strobe.
