~ Blue Vortex ~
In 2013, it was documented for the first time that a bait ball was kept trapped by the shear number of sharks present. Although a few dolphins were spotted early on, they soon left and the ball was literally wrapped by sharks.
~ Last Light ~
Swept in-shore from the deep by up-welling currents, this Root-mouthed jellyfish is on its last few breaths. Its a long and treacherous path it was swept along as its battered body is testament too.

A school of fast moving and very skittish Yellow Tail buzz me and the the "tower" The "tower" being the engine block of the Oriental Pioneer.

There are bait balls and then there are Shark Balls, just another one of those things which makes the Sardine Run one of The natural spectacles on the planet today.

He became my dive buddy for the full duration of my dive. Playing games and entertaining one another. Two happy souls at the end of the dive I would like to believe...I know I was!

One of the fastest moving predators at the Sardine Run are the Cape Gannets. Watching their aerial assault from a boat is amazing. Witnessing it from within the water is simply breathtaking!

I wonder how many people, seeing one of these for the first time, would guess it to be a worm...the ocean is truly another world!
"The Gathering"
These guys are pretty territorial and defend their areas with vigour, so pretty cool to see 4 of them together.
"The Order of Things" - Life in the ocean is so unknown, yet we fly to the moon, experiment on Mars, all our research to find a human habitat in space in stead of understanding the ocean, a habitat that supports earth!!! A rather crazy notion!!!

~ On the Hunt ~
I was out snorkeling when I became aware that something was following me. At closer in inspection it turned out to be this beautiful Honey Comb eel. It was literally tracking my movements and using these coral heads as cover.
