zoom this one - I bet it looks even better as a large print!
Ghiannis D. Sha'ab Abu Nuhas, Red Sea. Nik V, 15mm
DUNRAVEN Propeller. The ship lies completely upside down. Sha'ab Mahmoud, Sinai. Nik V, 15mm
If this anti-aircraft gun had been more effective in 1941, we wouldn't have a ship to dive on now...just a thought. THISTLEGORM. I find it interesting to see different compositions of the same subject. There are another 2 here at this moment.
Yolanda Reef, Ras Muhammad, Red Sea.

Johannes resisted the temptation to sit someone on one and took a different view

Here's a wreck shot with very little in it - but works well because your imagination does the rest
It must be the nitrogen narcosis. Either my dive buddy thinks he's an aeroplane, or he's measuring the length of the ship...? DUNRAVEN. Red Sea
STAIRWAY TO HEAVEN. External stairs on the hull of the Ghiannis D. Red Sea
Thistlegorm, bridge section.
Ghiannis D. Sha'ab Abu Nuhas, Red Sea. A very photogenic wreck from all sorts of angles, but it was the clear water that enabled me to get the whole thing.

How many of us have this shot! The classic Ghiannis D full-frame fisheye from the stern. Excellent nevertheless
This shark was swimming towards me very slowly, apparently not willing to stretch a muscle to avoid me, so I descended just a little to let him glide past above me, being a little anxious of how he would react to my flash. Nik V. 15mm
Taken at Dyer Island, South Africa, which is Great White Shark territory. Because of the thousands of seals around, it was difficult getting a shot of just one by itself.

I bet Johannes had one eye over his shoulder taking this!
DOLPHINS at Dolphin Reef, Red Sea. I was snorkling when this group came swimming in my direction just a few metres below me. I had just a few seconds to compose my shot. They were so fast, any attempt to go after them would have been futile.

Underwater shots looking down rarely work. This one shows the exception to the rule. Well done Johannes!
Red Sea
It appears to me that Lionfish are aware of their own poisonous capabilities, which perhaps explains why they're not afraid of us. Red Sea
"The Inner Light" Red Sea, F5, 60mm Seacam Housing, Hartenberger strobes
There is always something new underwater, but being used to the "regular" yellowish colour of anemones, I was even more surprised to find this one being bright red.
Anyone fancy an underwater train ride? Thistlegorm. Nik.V, 15mm
I call this guy "Headlights". It took me a while to get down to his eyelevel. One shot and he took off. F5. 60mm macro.
Ragged Tooth Shark. Soth Africa. Nik. V 15mm 200w strobe
The smoothness and grace with which these mantas glide through the water leaves you with a real sense of awe and admiration for these magnificent creatures. This was taken on an eight day dive safari in the Maldives.
