Florida. 3 Atlantic dolphin males chase a female around in circles. Fuji, no strobes.
Key Largo, FL. An impressive school of Atlantic Spadefish in the Marine Sanctuary. Nikonos V 20mm, one 105 flash.
Bora Bora, French Polynesia. One of the murkier dives of the trip, we were pleasantly surprised when 6 mantas emerged from the cloudy distance. 18mm, Fuji s2 and dual strobes.
Kauai, Hawaii. There's a boat ramp by Poi Pu hosting 7 immense turtles in the shallows each day, covered in sand from the wave action. Fuji s2, Ikelite, no strobes.
San Diego, CA. Seahorse. Nice to not have the Nikonos framer for this one. Macro 60mm, fuji s2, dual strobes.
San Diego, CA. Seahorse in the grass. Fuji s2, Ikelite, dual strobes.
Phuket, Thailand. Shark Reef lives up to its name, with Zebra Sharks in the sandy bottom. Ikelite, Fuji s2, and dual 125's.
Flower Island, Thailand. Giant or Yellow Margin Moray hiding behind a clam waiting for a cleaning.
Long Beach, CA. Long Beach Aquarium.
Bora Bora, French Polynesia. 8' lemon shark, pilot fish. 18mm, 2 strobes.
Bora Bora, French Polynesia. Eagle Rays in channel at 90 feet.
Bora Bora, French Polynesia. Eagle Ray on a drift dive. They started at 90 feet and rose to us before splitting off. 18mm.
British Virgin Islands, Wreck of the Rhone. Last of the divers through the body of the ship, their air trapped in the ship's ribs. 80 feet, or so, 20mm, sb105, nikonos V, Fuji 100.
Moorea, French Polynesia. Blacktip shark, 18mm dual strobe.
Bora Bora, French Polynesia. Blacktip sharks circle as we head down outside the reef break.
Bora Bora, French Polynesia. Lemon Shark. 18mm, dual flash. 50-60 feet down, lying on the bottom because they were coming in just above ground like trains.
Bora Bora, French Polynesia. The groups of three were amusing. Lemon sharks, 18mm, dual flash.
Moorea, French Polynesia. The channel between the Motu and Moorea was filled with stingrays. 18mm, dual strobes.
Moorea, French Polynesia. Swarming Black tips go after fish, practically driving each other out of the water. Dual strobes slung low to catch the bellies and 18mm for the angle.
Moorea, French Polynesia. Blacktip sharks surrounded us just outside the wave break. We counted 30 in the photos after the dive. This is inside the circle, looking out at the divers before the lemon sharks cruised in. 18mm dual flash.
Motu off Moorea, French Polynesia. Barracuda after lunch on Motu. We dove in for natural light shots with no fins, no weights. Cleaning station, if you look under his chin. 18mm lens, no flash.
Barracuda off a private MOTU by Moorea, French Polynesia. After lunch on the island, we spotted this guy floating in the lagoon. We had been shooting sharks and rays, so I had the 18mm and had to get close with no fins or weights. Big and toothy.
Seahorse. Almost the entire night dive was spent looking for turtles when this little guy darted out between two fronds before latching on. Fuji s2 60mm/dual strobes-Photoshop-hue/saturation and converted to sepia.

Like the sepia effect
Anacapa Island, CA. Harbor seals lined the kelp for each of the four December dives, and this one kept a wary eye on us from behind. I like how portrait-like his expression is, even a bit sad...it adds to the distance of the 3/4 shot.

Nice study of a cute subject
Anacapa Island, CA. Harbor seals dove up and down the lanes of kelp while we photographed them, chewing on our flippers when they got close enough. I waited for a pair to come down between the rows when this one popped up from below. 60mm lens.
Tunnels, Kauai. Another view of the resident white tip reef shark in the cleaning station of endemic Hawaiian cleaner wrasse, Labroides phthirophagus. Shot crawling into the cave at the drop off just west of the entrance to Tunnels (the pine lane).
Tunnels, Kauai. I heard there's a resident white tip and poked in every cave until I found him with an endemic hawaiian cleaner wrasse, Labroides phthirophagus. Aircraft-like framing on just the tail was the point of the shot.
