The monthly winners<\/strong> (1st, 2nd, 3rd and Runner Ups) are chosen from this short list by our editor (no medals, just your name in the lights for a month!). They are chosen according to the number of judges votes with some reference to the peoples votes and the editor’s choice. It is no coincidence that many of the Hotshots<\/a><\/strong> end up in the annual awards!

Nick Blake <\/strong>
\nA childhood fascination with diving and the ocean, inspired by the 70’s TV series “The Undersea World of Jacques Cousteau”, led to Nick learning to dive at the earliest opportunity, aged 14 back in the 1980’s.
\nDiving primarily around the UK, it is only in more recent years that Nick’s long standing interest in photography has extended into the water. Having initially bought an Olympus underwater compact camera in 2004 and subsequently Nikon D300\/D3 DSLRs, one to one tuition with renowned Underwater Photographer Martin Edge has proved instrumental in Nick’s development.<\/div>\n

Now fuelled by dive trips to more tropical climes as well as continued UK diving as a member of Woking based BSAC branch Surrey Aquanauts, a selection of Nick’s more recent underwater photographs together with images of personal interest above the water can be seen via the web site link.

\nWater.
\nI\u2019ve been fascinated with it from before I can remember. Apparently my father \u2013 in trying to impress my parents\u2019 female friends with his knowledge of babies \u2013 gently submerged me as a new-born into our pool. I couldn\u2019t get enough of it.
\nI became PADI certified in 2008, and bought a cheap point-and-shoot camera with my husband to show our friends and family the wonders of the Caribbean Sea. With time, I got better gear along the way \u2013 currently I\u2019m in love with 4\/3 mirrorless cameras.
\nI feel I\u2019ve only just begun really getting into underwater imaging. I\u2019m most certainly still learning, and will always do so. I remind myself most of all to witness the beauty around me, all the time.
\nWith photographs, it all comes back to that one thing in the end: Water. It inspires me. If I can show the beauty of water, and the crucial importance of water, and all nature\u2019s gifts in it, in any conceivable way, I\u2019ll have a happy soul.
