Owase? It's the seaside city, located southern part of Kii Peninsula, the center of the main island of Japan. about 200Km from Osaka,400km from Tokyo. This city enjoys warm climate through all year around. Thanks to the warm current : KUROSHIO(Black current) runs by near the cost. Water temperature is high, even in Winter ,it's over 14C(57F), in Summer, sometimes over 27c(80F). We can see fish, Soft corals, Sea Stars, Bristle Worms... a lot of tropical invertebrated animals.

Awesome dive. Very deep, good vis, not beat up, lots of coral and fish, can also see turtles and sharks. Be careful of conditions, entry and exit is difficult with swirling and crashing water in even small swells if they are coming from the wrong direction (hence the name toilet bowl). There is a lip of rock at the edge of the bowl, at high tide it is like getting out of a swimming pool.

One of the best dives along the seawall. I like to take a heading of 270 until it drops off then follow the wall to the right. Good wall dive that goes down to around 70 ft. with soft coral and nudis. I've also seen octopi here several times. Interesting rock formations too (some people compare to Yonaguni, but I don't agree).

Easy entry/exit. Not the greatest dive but good for beginners. Like most places in Okinawa, still plenty to see. Try taking a heading out to where you see a channel marker, there is a large rock with more to see. You can usually find lots of nudis here, sometimes cuttlefish.

One of the best shore dives on the island. The water is very deep and visibility is often 100+ ft. Very large fans and soft coral formations. Often many lionfish, possible to see turtles and sharks. Wait for the weather to be just right for shore diving, entry and exit can be dangerous otherwise.

Osezaki caters to divers. It was fairly good walk from the parking area to where we did our first two dives, but we were able to rent a cart for 500 yen to put our dive gear on. There is a paved path along the beach and the area is obviously set up for diving. A paved path with a rough surface (to reduce slipping) leads right to the water. Once in the water there is even a post to lean on while you put on your fins. Lots of rocks down to about 15 meters, then a wide expanse of sandy bottom as it gradually slopes down. Starting at about 20-25 meters we started to see lots of coral and the bottom continued to slope down. O

This site is a very popular site with tourists, U.S. Military personel, and locals. Get there early for good parking. There is steps leading to the water so its a easy entry and exit. About 30 feet after entry it drops off sharp to a depth of about 130 feet. There are shallow spots along the edge for beginners along with a wide cave that is a 100 yard swim from the steps. The Vis in the site is most of the time 80' + unless it rained the day before then it is about 40 feet until you around 100 feet. Marine life found in the area is a vary wide variety. Such as Lionfish, Eels, Batfish, Clownfish, Octopus, Cuddlefish, Sea snakes, plus many more.
