Tanya Houppermans'So Nice To Meet You'
A very curious manatee approaches my 17-year old son. My son has autism, but loves the water and being around marine animals. He is very gentle with the animals, and never tries to grab them. I think they sense his kindness.

A manatee calf surfaces for a breath. I witnessed this calf both nursing and eating sea grass. He will soon be weaned from his mother, who is seen in the lower right hand side of the image.

A manatee is bathed in sunrise light rays as it snoozes on a riverbed. Bubbles float up as the manatee breathes out. Photographed in the tannin waters just outside the Crystal River.
