To capture an image while playing it back
You can capture an
image manually from a MICROMV device and specify desired parts while
playing it back on the MovieShaker monitor. The captured file is
imported into the Clip tray.
You cannot use a MICROMV
device with MovieShaker preinstalled on your computer. If you
wish to use a MICROMV device, see To
use a MICROMV device.
Notes
-
If you wish to capture images from a MICROMV device, or export a final
movie product to a MICROMV device, you must connect the MICROMV
device (to your computer) and turn it on before starting MovieShaker.
For further information about connecting MICROMV devices, see the
Operating Instructions that came with your device.
-
Be sure not to disconnect the i.LINK
cable or turn off the power of the MICROMV device while running MovieShaker.
-
Configure the necessary settings before capturing from MICROMV
devices. For further information, see Settings
for capturing from MICROMV devices.
-
If a heavy load is put on the CPU or hard disk while capturing images
from MICROMV devices, packet
loss may occur. To reduce this problem, set up your computer
according to Configuring your
computer for use with MICROMV devices (Be sure to read this.).
-
Capturing stops if the MICROMV device is disconnected from your
computer, its power turned off, or the videotape ejected from the
MICROMV device.
-
Insert a videotape into the MICROMV device.
-
Select the "Device" menu from the Menu bar, and then click
"MICROMV Device" to select it.
-
Click
(the Capture tab).
The Capture tab is highlighted,
and the Monitor panel switches to the Capture tray.
The Tool panel displays the Index
tray where the information of the image on the MICROMV device (e.g.,
Cassette Labels for videotapes, date and time recorded, and recorded
time) appears.
-
Stop playing the videotape just before the point you want to start capturing.
Note
If the MICROMV device is in
CAMERA mode, steps 4 and 5 are not necessary.
-
Click the Play button.
The image recorded in the
videotape is played back on the monitor.
-
When the start point to be captured is displayed, click the
"Capture" button.
Capturing starts.
Observe the HDD remaining space
indicator. As remaining free space on the hard disk decreases, it
becomes shorter. Also, when remaining free space is insufficient, it
turns red.
Note
If available free space on the
hard disk becomes less than 50 MB, capturing will cease instantly.
For this reason, beware if the indicator turns red.
-
When the end point to be captured is displayed, click the "Stop
Capture" button.
When capturing is finished, the
dialog box indicating importing progress appears.
When importing is finished, the
captured file is placed on the Clip tray.
To capture other images back to
back, repeat steps 4 through 7.
Hints
-
The files captured from MICROMV devices are automatically named
"MS/Date/Time/Serial Number/Extension (.MMV)." For example,
the file name "MS20010925193015-01.MMV" means that the file
was captured at 19:30:15 on September 25, 2001.
-
When large movie files are captured, they are divided into smaller
files of 4 GB each (about 40 minutes), starting from the beginning of
the images. At breaks in recording sessions, (e.g., recording
start points, etc.), files are also divided during saving. The
resultant files are sequentially numbered automatically.
-
You can enter your comments for videotapes (e.g., the titles, etc.).
To do so, click the "Comment" button to display the
"Comment" dialog box. Enter text in the dialog box, and
then click "OK."
The comments you entered are stored on your computer as information
about each videotape. These comments can only be displayed/edited on
the computer. Even when you delete all the contents on a videotape
with Cassette Memory, the comments will remain in your computer.
-
When you finish capturing and return to the editing mode, click
(the Edit tab). The Edit tab is highlighted, and the Edit
tray appears.
Note
You cannot capture images while they are displayed on the Full screen monitor.
