To collect a clip from files

Here is how to collect a clip from the hard disk on your computer or external media and place it onto the Clip tray. The clip can be a movie, still image, or sound file. For file type compatibility, see Limitations and notes.

You can also capture images directly from the DV device or MICROMV device connected to your computer, and import them into the Clip tray. For further information, see Collecting clips from DV devices or Collecting clips from MICROMV devices.

  1. Click the "File Import" button.

    The "Import" dialog box appears.

  2. Select a file to use as a clip and click "Open."

The dialog box indicating importing progress appears.

When importing is finished, the selected file is added to the Clip tray as a new entry.

Hints

  • You can also add a clip by dragging a file from Windows Explorer, etc., and dropping it onto the Clip tray.

  • To remove a clip from the Clip tray, drag it from the Clip tray and drop it in the Trash in the MovieShaker window. You can also remove a clip by clicking it, and pressing the Delete key. This only removes the clip from the Clip tray; it does not delete the original file.

  • You can also remove more than one clip at the same time. To do this, click on each clip to be removed while pressing the Ctrl key. To select a sequential block of clips, click on the first clip, and then click on the last clip while pressing the Shift key.

  • The sample folder (in the factory setting; C:\Program Files\Sony\MovieShaker\Samples) contains a white background file (white.bmp) and a black background file (black.bmp). These files can be used effectively as backgrounds when creating title scenes (cross-fade or wipe effect, etc.) for a final movie product.
