Getting familiar with the Timeline

A Storyboard tab, Timeline tab

These tabs switch between the Storyboard Display and the Timeline Display.

Clicking the Timeline tab while the Storyboard displays the Timeline.

Clicking the Storyboard tab while the Timeline displays the Storyboard.

B Timeline knob

The Timeline knob indicates the position within a scene, BGM, or narration being played. It moves from left to right as playing progresses.

C Timeline

Select clips from the Clip tray and place them onto the Scene track or the BGM track, and insert a transition between scenes to create a movie. The Scene track can contain a movie or a still image. The BGM track can contain a sound file or a movie file having sound. You can also lay narration created in the Narration tray on the Narration track.

D Scale setting list

Select the zooming size of the Timeline in relation to the length of the movie. If you select "100%," you can view the entire Timeline (without scrolling).

Hint

The larger the number you select, the larger the Timeline is magnified. This makes it easy to perform detailed editing.

E Scene track

The Scene track is provided for placing a scene. Drag a clip from the Clip tray and drop it on a Scene track. When a scene is placed on the Scene track, it is displayed as a bar.

You can change the length of a scene by dragging one or both ends of the Scene bar.

If you place more than one scene, you can also place a transition between the scenes. Drag a transition from the Transition tray and drop it between scenes. When a transition is placed between scenes, it is displayed as a mini bar.

You can adjust the duration of a transition by dragging one end of the Transition bar.

F BGM track

The BGM track is provided for placing a sound clip. Drag a sound clip from the Clip tray and drop it on the BGM track. When a sound clip is placed on the BGM track, it is displayed as a bar to indicate how long a piece of BGM is played along with each scene.

You can trim (adjust the duration of) a piece of BGM by dragging one or both ends of the BGM bar.

Hint

If you place a movie clip on the BGM track, only the sound contained in that movie clip is reproduced.

Note

When the length of a piece of BGM is extremely short compared to the length of a scene, the BGM bar may not be shown.

G Narration track

The Narration track is provided for placing a narration. A narration is displayed as a bar to indicate how long it is played along with each scene.

You can trim (adjust the duration of) narration by dragging one or both ends of the Narration bar.
