To edit on the Timeline

You can edit the starting/ending points and duration of scenes, transitions, BGM, or narrations on the Timeline.

The steps below describe how to edit the starting/ending points and duration of scenes. Almost the same procedure is used for transitions, BGM, and narrations.

By displaying a scene, a transition, a piece of BGM, or a narration on the Edit tray, you can also edit starting/ending points, as well as duration. For further information, see To cut unwanted parts off a scene.

  1. Click the Scene bar on the Scene track.

  2. Move the mouse pointer to the left end of the selected Scene bar.

The pointer changes to a black arrow.

  3. Click the left end of the Scene bar and drag it to the new starting point.

A white line appears in the middle of the black arrow, indicating the end of the scene. The starting point and duration of the scene change as the arrow is dragged.

  4. Move the pointer to the right end of the selected Scene bar.

The pointer changes to a black arrow.

  5. Click the right end of the Scene bar and drag it to the new ending point.

A white line appears in the middle of the black arrow, indicating the end of the scene. The ending point and duration of the scene change as the arrow is dragged.

  6. Click (the Play trimming range check box) to select it.

  7. Click the Play button.

Only the portion to be used in the movie (as specified above) is played.

Rolling Edit

By selecting two adjacent Scene bars, you can extend (or trim) the ending point of the preceding scene while simultaneously trimming (or shifting) the starting point of the subsequent scene. You can only perform this operation after the adjacent scenes have been trimmed (either on one or both of them).

  1. Click two adjacent Scene bars of the Scene track while pressing the Shift key.

  2. Move the mouse pointer to the point where the two selected Scene bars join.

The pointer changes to a black arrow.

  3. Click where the Scene bars join, and drag it to the new position.

A white line appears in the middle of the black arrow, indicating the end of the scene. The ending point of the preceding scene and the starting point of the subsequent scene change as the arrow is dragged.

  4. Drag the Timeline knob to the starting point of the preceding scene selected.

  5. Click the Play button.

Only the portion to be used in the movie is played.
