To cut unwanted parts off a scene

You can cut off unwanted parts (trimming) from a scene. Move the Trimming knobs to specify the portion within a scene, that you wish to use in a movie. The length indicated between the left and right Trimming knobs is applied to your movie.

The steps below describe how to trim a scene. Almost the same procedure is used for transitions, BGM, and narrations.

You can also process a scene, BGM, or narration on the Timeline of the Product tray to be used in a movie. For further information, see To edit on the Timeline.

  1. Drag the Trimming start point knob (the left side) to specify the starting point.

The image displayed on the monitor also changes as the knob is dragged.

  2. Drag the Trimming end point knob (the right side) to specify the ending point.

The image displayed on the monitor also changes as the knob is dragged.

  3. Click (the Play trimming range check box) to select it.

  4. Click the Play button.

Only the portion you specified for a movie using the Trimming knobs is played.

Hints

  • You can change the starting and ending points of a scene simultaneously by dragging the Trimming range marker. The duration of the scene cannot be changed with this operation.

  • When the Trimming knob is dragged over the Time slider, it snaps to align with the Time slider knob, allowing you to precisely trim scenes.

  • Moving the Time slider knob to a desired point using the buttons (e.g., the Next frame button, the Previous frame button, or the Play button) before dragging the Trimming knob allows you to easily specify the exact starting and ending points of a scene.

  • If (the Repeat-Play check box) is selected, the scene displayed on the Edit tray is played repeatedly.

Note

If more than one scene is selected from the Product tray, you cannot trim them.

To change the duration of the transition

If you click a transition displayed on the Product tray (Storyboard or Timeline), the Transition time setting knobs are displayed on the Edit tray.

You can change the duration of a transition by moving one of the Transition time setting knobs. When you drag one of the two Transition time setting knobs, the other moves proportionately in the other direction.

  1. Drag one of the Transition time setting knobs.

    The duration of transition changes.

You can change the duration of a transition between 1 and 5 seconds.
