Hint

The following options are available for saving or exporting:

Export to file

Use this option to save your final movie product to a file. Select the file format from the list.

  • MPEG1 (Attach to Email)

  • Select this option to attach a final movie product to an e-mail and send it to other people. Only the first 1 minute of the movie will be exported to an MPEG1 format file.

  • MPEG1 (ImageStation)

  • Select this option to upload a final movie product to ImageStation. Only the first 3 minutes of the movie will be exported to an MPEG1 format file.

    Note

ImageStation service is only valid in some countries. For your computer was purchased outside a valid area, you cannot upload your final movie products to ImageStation.

  • Uploading a final movie product to ImageStation

  • QuickTime Movie (Web)

  • Select this option to show a final movie product on the Internet (home page). This option exports the movie to a QuickTime format file, which can be played with QuickTimePlayer, etc. The screen size of the movie becomes smaller compared to what is exported using the "QuickTime Movie" option.

  • RealVideo

  • Select this option to show a final movie product on the Internet (home page). This option exports the movie to a RealVideo format file, which can be played with RealPlayer, etc.

  • QuickTime Movie

  • Select this option to save a final movie product as a QuickTime Movie format file.

  • MPEG1

  • Select this option to save a final movie product as a file in smaller size containing clear images.

  • MICROMV

  • Select this option to save a final movie product as a MICROMV format file. Only the first 65 minutes of the movie will be exported to a file. When exporting a 65-minute movie, disk space of more than 6 GB is required to save the file.

    Notes

    • If the file size to be saved exceeds 4 GB, the file is automatically divided into smaller files of 4 GB each.

    • You cannot select the "MICROMV" option so that you cannot use a MICROMV device with MovieShaker preinstalled on your computer. If you wish to use a MICROMV device, see To use a MICROMV device.

  • DV-AVI

  • Select this option to play a final movie product clearly on a larger screen. Only the first 9 minutes of the movie will be exported to an AVI format file. When exporting a 9-minute movie, disk space of more than 2 GB is required to save the file.

  • MPEG2 (8Mbps - High Quality)

  • Select this option to show clear images of a final movie product on the wide screen, or record to DVD-R, or DVD-RW discs. Only the first 65 minutes of the movie will be exported to a file. When exporting a 65-minute movie, disk space of more than 4 GB is required to save the file.

    Note

Depending on your computer, it may not be possible to export a final movie product to an MPEG2 format file.

  • MPEG2 (4Mbps - Standard)

  • Select this option to show clear images of a final movie product on the wide screen, or record to DVD-R, or DVD-RW discs. Only the first 130 minutes of the movie will be exported to a file. When exporting a 130-minute movie, disk space of more than 4 GB is required to save the file.

    Note

Depending on your computer, it may not be possible to export a final movie product to an MPEG2 format file.

  • Giga Pocket Format (8Mbps - High Quality)

  • Select this option to create a Video Capsule of Giga Pocket in better quality. The file size becomes two times bigger than the one exported using 4Mbps. Only the first 65 minutes of the movie will be exported to a file. When exporting a 65-minute movie, disk space of more than 4 GB is required to save the file.

    Hint

An MPEG file and an SCX file (which includes an index) are generated as a result of exporting a movie. After the MPEG file is imported into Giga Pocket by Video Explorer of Giga Pocket, it can be played back as a Video Capsule (the SCX file should be in the same folder as the MPEG file). For details about importing MPEG files, see the Giga Pocket Online Help.

    Note

You cannot select "Giga Pocket Format (8Mbps - High Quality)" unless the Giga Pocket application is installed on your computer.

  • Giga Pocket Format (4Mbps - Standard)

  • Select this option to create a Video Capsule of Giga Pocket. Only the first 130 minutes of the movie will be exported to a file. When exporting a 130-minute movie, disk space of more than 4 GB is required to save the file.

Export to external device

Use this option to export your final movie product to an external device. Either of the following you selected from the "Device" menu appears under the option.

  • Export to DV device

  • Only the first 9 minutes of the movie will be exported. Also, if the videotape runs out before exporting is completed (i.e., less than 9 minutes of videotape remains), exporting is stopped at the end of the videotape.

Exporting a final movie product to a DV device

  • Export to MICROMV device

  • Only the first 65 minutes of the movie will be exported. Also, if the videotape runs out before exporting is completed (i.e., less than 65 minutes of videotape remains), exporting is stopped at the end of the videotape.

    Note

You cannot use a MICROMV device with MovieShaker preinstalled on your computer. If you wish to use a MICROMV device, see To use a MICROMV device.

Exporting a final movie product to a MICROMV device

Notes

  • Exporting a final movie product to a file is time-consuming to complete. If the product includes various effects and/or transitions, it may take additional time to export.

  • If you select any option other than "MPEG1 (Attach to Email)," use AC power, not batteries. Otherwise, the battery may run out before exporting to a file is completed.

  • Exporting a final movie product to a file using the "DV-AVI" option takes a particularly long time. The "MICROMV" option takes even more time to complete.

  • The portion that you can export to a file is until the end of a scene.

  • For example, in the case shown above, the portion of the BGM and narration displayed to the right of the broken lines cannot be exported. However, you can preview your final movie product until the end of the narration.

  • To export the entire movie (until the end of the BGM or narration), extend scenes using the black background file (black.bmp) or the white background file (white.bmp), etc., which are contained in the sample folder.

  • The files exported in MICROMV format cannot be played back on a computer unless MovieShaker compliant with MICROMV format is installed on it.
