Exporting a final movie product to a MICROMV device

You can export your final movie products to MICROMV devices for playback on MICROMV devices where a computer is not available.

You cannot use a MICROMV device with MovieShaker preinstalled on your computer. If you wish to use a MICROMV device, see To use a MICROMV device.

Notes

  1. Select "Device" from the Menu bar, and then click "MICROMV Device" to select it.

  2. Click the "Export" button.

    The "Export" dialog box appears.

  3. Select "Export to external device," and then click "Next."

When the confirmation dialog box appears, click "Yes."

The "Export to MICROMV device" wizard appears.

  4. Specify the destination folder for saving a temporary file, and then click "Next."

    Hint

The final movie product is temporarily saved in the folder.

When exporting a final movie product to a MICROMV device, you need to specify a folder for saving the temporary file. Note that the settings made here also apply to "Location to store the temporary file" in the "Setting" dialog box.

    Note

When exporting a 65-minute movie, disk space of more than 6 GB is required to save the temporary file.

  5. Insert the videotape to be exported into the MICROMV device.

  6. When you are ready to export, click "Finish."

    A temporary file is created.

Exporting to the MICROMV device begins after the temporary file is created.

You can abort the export or creating the temporary file, as necessary.

When exporting is finished, the completion message is displayed.

    Notes

    • Operate your computer as little as possible while exporting. Otherwise, packet loss may result.

    • Saving a temporary file is time-consuming to complete. Use AC power, not batteries. Otherwise, the battery may run out before saving a file is completed.

It takes approximately 90 seconds to save a temporary file for a final movie product of approximately 10 seconds long. (Based on VAIO models with Pentium4 1.5GHz CPU and 128 MB main memory. The time differs depending on model.)

    • Only the first 65 minutes of the movie will be exported. Also, if the videotape runs out before exporting is completed (i.e., less than 65 minutes of videotape remains), exporting is stopped at the end of the videotape.

  7. Choose whether you export the same final movie product repeatedly or finish exporting.

When you want to export the same final movie product repeatedly, prepare another videotape and click "Yes."

The final movie product is exported to the MICROMV device using the created temporarily file.

    Click "No" to finish exporting.

The temporary file saved in step 6 is deleted automatically.
