Setting dialog box

The "Setting" dialog box appears when you select "Setting" from the "Edit" menu on the Menu bar.

The following items are displayed.

Location to store files tab

Location to store the captured file

Used to set the destination folder for saving the files captured from external devices.

Location to store the temporary file

Used to set the destination folder for saving the files temporarily created when the final movie product you have created is exported to an external device.

Location to store the recorded file

Used to set the destination folder for saving the sound files recorded via Microphone, Line In, etc.

Note

Be sure to save captured files and temporary files on a drive (for example, D drive) other than the drive on which the Windows operating system is installed. Otherwise, lost frames or packet loss may occur while capturing, or frame duplication/packet loss may occur while exporting files.

Capture from DV device tab

File Division during Capture

Click to select this check box to divide files to be saved, at the recording start points, during capturing images from a DV device.

Audio output while playing image from external device

Click to select this check box if you do not want to output the sound of the image from the computer while capturing. Note that even if you capture images with this check box selected, sound is still recorded in the captured files.

Monitor Display Resolution

Set the screen resolution of the movie file displayed on the Capture tray monitor. Select the resolution (decoding resolution) from "Low Resolution," "Medium Resolution," or "High Resolution." Depending on your computer, this setting may not be available.

Capture from MICROMV device tab

Note

The "Capture from MICROMV device" tab is not shown so that you cannot use a MICROMV device with MovieShaker preinstalled on your computer. If you wish to use a MICROMV device, see To use a MICROMV device.

Audio output while playing image from external device

Click to select this check box if you do not want to output the sound of the movie file from the computer while capturing. Note that even if you capture images with this check box selected, sound is still recorded in the captured files.

Frame rate displayed on the monitor

Set the frame rate of the movie file displayed on the Capture tray monitor. You can choose between "Low," "Middle," or "High" settings.

General tab

Display Pop-up Window

Click to select this check box to display pop-up help (explanations that appear when you place the mouse pointer over a button or icon).

Use MovieShaker's original Sound Events

Click to select this check box to output a sound effect when you switch the MovieShaker screen, or click on a button, etc.

Confirm the availability of tape before exporting

Click to select this check box if you want to confirm a videotape is inserted into a DV device before exporting.

Note

If you export your final movie product while Media Converter* is connected, a videotape may not be recognized correctly and a warning message may appear even when a videotape is loaded. In this case, deselect this check box so as not to perform this check before exporting. This will allow you to export your final movie product to a DV device.

* Not supplied in certain regions.

Shorten the shake time

Click to select this check box if you want to make the process time for shaking clips shorter. It is recommended to select this option when you shake MPEG2 files or MICROMV files on the Clip tray, as those files take time to be shaken.

When you deselect this check box, it takes 30 seconds longer to shake, but you can play back the shaken scene more smoothly.

Show the messages before deletion

Click to select each option to show the message before deleting clips, effects, scenes, transitions, BGM, or narrations.
