Dahlia anemone

The bottom of the Oosterschelde is at several places covered with brittlestars. A lot of divers don't even look at them but the colours can be very beautiful.

This image of a Lobster was taken on a day with very good visability. Normally they don't walk around during daytime but on this day a lot of them where on the move.

This picture of Cottis perifretum was taken in the Grote Hegge, Thorn. Here is a wreck overgrown
with freshwatermussels. In the nighttime this little fish is searching here for food. Sometimes they seem bored, it looks as if they have to yawn!

The picture of Facelina auriculata was taken at the divesite Zeelandbrug. Is was present for several weeks and is not common in the Oosterschelde. Unfortunately the dive site is destroyed by the dumping of steel slag.

This picture of Anguila anguila was taken during a nightdive in the freshwaterlake Bosmolenplas.

The picture is taken in may 2009 in a freshwaterlake called de grote Hegge. There is a wreck and Sander lucioperca is coming there to lay eggs. The mail protects the aggs and there is a good oppertunity to take some pictures.

Testing my new wide angle lens in a freshwater lake near to my hometown I spotted these model submarine. It has a length of about 2 meters.

This image is half half, but also fresh water. I took it while snorkling in a chanel close to my home. The Cow was staring at me.....

Cyclopterus lumpus (Lump sucker) male with eggs. The male protects the eggs till the juvenile fishes come out.

Imagine: Were did this Shell live, how long ago did it died, was it eaten by a crab? And what will happen when we leave it here? A small dune already exists, would it become a big dune in the future……

The Pleurobranchia pileus looks like an UFO at night.

Some animals show their beauty when you see them in close up. These picture of an Asterias rubens I made yesterday, the water is around 6° Celcius now.

Tergipes tergipes is hard to find. The one at the picture is about 4mm length. The white eggs can be found easily. I made this picture last week on a depth of 2-3 meter. I tried to use low light, because otherwise the small body loose all details.

These heremite couldn't find a house that fits to his size. Normally you don't see his backside.

Sagartia troglodytes is so common in our waters, that most divers don’t even look at it. That’s a pity, because if you see them in close up you will discover the beauty of this animal.

These Elysia viridis seems to make acrobatic exercises on these sponge.

The Dahlia brings some colour in our grey waters.

The Acanthodoris pilosa is small (1-2cm) and hidden between the mussels. And of course not as colourful as it’s tropical brothers and sisters. But I like these small animals.

These Enophrys bubalis just catches these small crab. Seconds later the crab disappeared inside the bubalis.
