Norway Norwegian SeaEasy dive site, just off the jetty at Gulen Dive Resort (www.divegulen.com). Lots of nudibranchs and other macro life, especially at night. Even sharks and octopi turn up sometimes. Excellent site, one of my favourites.

United States PacificI can't really say much about this location for I have only dove here once. I can say, however, that you really need to be physically fit and have absolutely no problem with having to suit up at the top of the hill (which is where you park you car) and walk down (with all your gear on) either the paved service road (which is really long and steep), or the stairs that are directly next to the service road (which are the same steepness and length as the service road) to reach the beach. This is really the only way to access the beach by foot. At the end of the service road/stairs, there are well kept mens/womens bathrooms and external showers (one for your whole body, and two for your feet). The showers are quite convenient because you can rinse off all the sand you picked up from getting out of the water and you can give a light rinse to your gear. I give it 4/5 stars. Would be 5/5 if there were an escalator :) On a good day, the viz would be about 20 feet. However, when a storm is on the way, expect 60+!

Canada PacificThis is an excellent dive site with tons of resident pacific octopus and wolf eels. Every dive is different, and there are many macro opportunities, like nudibranchs, tiny red octopus, hermit crabs, anemones and tons more. A must dive location if your in the area.

South Georgia and the South Sandwich Islands Antarctic (Southern Ocean)One of my favorite dive sites at South Georgia. A vertical rock wall drops to over 25M, sheltered by Macrocystis kelp and heavily encrusted with sponges and bryozoans. A great place to look for nudibranchs and pycnogonids. Water temperature is usually around 33-35F (0.5-1.5C) in November and February.

Svalbard and Jan Mayen Islands ArcticThis site is outside the westernmost sill in Hornsund, so it often has decent visibility and hosts a marine community more typical of the outer coast of western Spitsbergen than the fjord waters to the east. A steep shelving rock wall, mostly covered in a dense growth of Laminaria hyperborea, drops to a coarse sandy bottom at about 80 feet. Water temperature typically about 35F (2C) in July and August. Often a great site for zooplankton like pteropods, ctenophores and larvaceans.

Canada PacificSome of the best diving in the world according to Jacques Cousteau and I must agree. Browning pass is like a wall of color and life is everywhere. This dive site if you can handle the cold water is better than any warm water diving I have seen. Bring your drysuit.
