First trip to PNG, I suspect not my last. The trip redefined unspoiled and diverse life. Abounding fish populations added to the wonder. Tried a number of occasions to convince myself to switch to my 100mm but the wide-angle was just too good!

Spinecheek Anemonefish -- Florida Islands, Solomon Islands
The Seas Flora and Fauna
Scorpionfish are always a fun find. The textures, endless variety of colors & their tolerance of photographers all make for a portrait image waiting to happen.
‘The Escape’ — Grey Reef Shark was pursuing this turtle until it ducked into our group of divers all hooked into Blue Corner.
Blue Corner, Ngemelis Island, Palau
shortlistedShortlisted!
Witch Doctor — Barney’s Reef, Fathers Reef, Papua New Guinea
A barrel sponge festooned with dozens of colorful crinoids. Taking a hard upward angle allowed me to capture a small sliver of the reefs fish population.

What better way to finish off a dive than a Hawksbill passing within an arms length.
Lovely first dive of the day!
Intricate coral stands, snow white sand and crazy clear water. Even if I didn't have a camera in my hands it'd still be a great trip.
Xena Crab

The Rambler -- Thecacera picta
Orange-lined Triggerfish

El Aguila, Spanish for ‘The Eagle’, is a 230 ft long freighter and rests at a max depth of 110’. Located on the North side of Roatan a short trip from West End. The mast is beautifully encrusted in black coral, gorgonians, and sponges.

Sometimes I find myself looking for the extraordinary when I am taken back by the simplistic. This image captures the latter in a small grouping of a barrel sponge, crinoids and anemone which collectively endow a variety of texture, shape and color.
Red whip coral lending a strong contrast to the blue water column has always been a favorite.
shortlistedShortlisted!
Coral Castle — Tufi, Papua New Guinea. The shear size and spectacular intricacy of this coral stand as indeed a site to behold. It was a reminder why we all pursue diving with such passion.
Coral bommies dot most of the dive sites in Turks & Caicos. This one attracted my attention because of its shape and the beautifully colored purple rope sponges complimenting the typical azure blue of this part of the Caribbean.
shortlistedShortlisted!
Taken on Mabul Island, Malaysia. The bold white stripe is paradoxical to the behavior of this timed little fellow who rarely ventured out from the protection its host.
Riding the Green Wave
Clown anemonefish (Amphiprion ocellaris) inside magnificent sea anemone (Heteractis magnifica)
Masaplad North, Dumaguete
Kiss Please -- Smooth Trunkfish
My New Friends
If you’re diving Bonaire and are looking for something to do for the surface day before you fly visit the Donkey Sanctuary. Buy some carrots and you are now their best friend, great cause that’ll give you a warm and fuzzy.
Thecacera picta -- Dumaguete
Poseidon's Garden
Apo Island, Philippines
Chromodoris quadricolor
