Close up of a peacock mantis shrimp looking straight toward the camera. Mantis shrimps are usually very shy but this one eagerly inspected me and my camera. I had to cautiously keep my distance fearing its famous punch from damaging my gear.

When spotting a whip coral check the surface of the coral if there is a variation in texture. It will probably be a whip coral shrimp as they are perfectly camouflaged with the coral s colour and polyp structure.Jan_2024

This is a small rock jutting out vertically about 1.4km south of the main Astola island-GPS co-ord 25° 6'24.86"N, 63°51'9.00"E.
Lots of Groupers, Snappers and coral. Its a nice dive to circumnavigets the rock. Also lobsters
