Our waters can be grey, but these heremite lobsters make it colourful.
Sepia´s at the start of mating. Some seconds later and they will be right ahead each other.
Trinchesia concinna in the Oosterschelde. Not that colourfull as it's hot water family.
Limacia clavigera at the Oosterschelde. They can be find only some weeks of the year on Electra pilosa. So last week I took a day of, and succeeded to find them. Colour in cold water.
Seahorse between the sea gras in France.
Sabella spallanzanii. Most pictures are taken from the front, I thought these image from the side has a weird and colourfull effect.
Hippocampos ramulosus in close up between the vegetation.
Trinchesia gymnota, another colourfull specie from our grey and green waters.
The 2nd picture of my mirror experiment in the Oosterschelde. Anemone in the air mirror.
The air bubbles at the ceiling of the pilaster of the “Seelandbridge” work as a mirror. You can get weird effects. Here an anemone seen in the mirror.
The Lissotriton vulgaris lives only for breeding in the water. During this time, he warms up at a stone or something else in the neighbourhood of the water. These picture I made on a bicycle road near my house, were I find sometimes 20 on one evening
Father & son? Also the male of the Enophrys bubalis takes care of the eggs. Taken with my Olympus E330 with 50mm macro lens.
These Cyclopterus lumpus protects his eggs in the background. He will stay here till the juvenile fishes come out.
Liparis liparis comes every winter to put there eggs into the Haliclona oculata
Eathing Crab. It looks like he loves worms.....
Cyclopterus lumpus male. In his neigbourhood we found his eggs on 2 places. The male is protecting them till the juvenile come out, 4-8 weeks later. These picture was made on a depth of 10 meters, usualy it is hard to make a natural light picture .
The Myoxocephalus scorpius male is protecting the eggs. He will defend and clean them for about 5 weeks. When he saw his own face in my dome port, he attacked it immediately….
Chrysaora hysoscella. When I tell people I like jellyfish they think I am crazy....
What do you think........
Yellow and Blue. I like the contrast of the Parazoanthus axinellae and the water.
I am just out of the water of 2° C, and made these winterpicture of the Metridium senile. Our goal was to find the Cyclopterus lumpus, we will try again next week....
The last picture from my half/half test in the chanle close to my home. I saw the insects later on the PC.
I will add some pictures of my freshwater experience the next days. I am not sure if I have to put them in the category Over/Under or freshwater. I made these pictures in a small chanel close to my home.
Salvador Dahli: that´s what what I thought when I saw these eggs of Buccinum undatum covered by Ophiotrix fragilis
Sabella pavonina. Last summer most of them are eaten by a new predator for the Netherlands, the Tubulanus superbus.
Thecacera pennigera. one of the colourful nudibranches in the Netherlands. Unfortunately not so often seen. This is the first one I spotted, with thanks to my buddy Wim who found it.
