PS: to my earlier...
Another very effective tool for publicity and votes you might wish to consider Alex, (if you aren't already doing it) is adding this URL (and your own site if you have one) to the bottom of any email you send to anyone about anything! Promote, promote, promote. Also, remain aware that your image doesn't necessarily look the same on every monitor as is does on your own, so something to you that is smashing, may appear less so on someone elses' screen.

I always try to avoid disappointment when one image doesn't do well, and focus on my gallery/portfolio presentation as a whole as it best represents who you are, your talent and skills, etc. One image does not a world champion make. It is the breadth, depth and competency over all categories that will probably determine the winner.

Anyway, hope this helps a little. You are a talented fellow, Amigo. Keep shootin' Tex!
