message hello!
i studied photography, and last year learnt to dive, have a good 60 dives under my belt.now looking to start underwater photography, as i feel confident enough in the water.i plan to go travelling in the new year to take photos.

my equipment so far canon 400d, 18-55, 50mm, 70-300mm is,

my dilema, ive saved up a bit of money but am not rich, i guess my options are

-buy a housing/strobe for my 400d maybe invest in a good wide angle lens (im more interested in vistas, marine mammals/fish/large coral, than macro stuff right now)

-upgrade to a 5d and buy a housing/strobe ( though that leaves me not much left to buy a lens and go use the equipment!)

-wait another year to save for 5d etc

-a different set up altogether, leica d lux 5? with a housing? , compact canon etc

bit of a perfectionist as well as experimental, so image quality is important, not sure i could settle for less than my canon and my lenses achieve already, could skip the strobes for now i ...

Answer Hi Jimmy
Short story - you need a strobe - the Tokina 10-17mm zoom is very popular for wide angle
Try our store for housings. We have one for most canon cameras.
Read our photo course section on gear.
