| Hi! I recently bought Olympus Pen E-PL2 with housing for Underwater Photography (replacing my old Canon G9), but.. - when I try to adjust white balance under 15 m, it just wont work!!! And most of my dives goes deeper than that! - Between 0 and 15 m white balance works relatively fine, but as I go deeper, it just stop working Do you have same kind of experience? Or is my camera broken? Because with my Canon G9 I didn't have that problem. Even in 40 m I was able to adjust white balance. Yours sincerely, Jyri Lindroos | Jpl225 19 point member

| | This is Olympus Tech-help reply: ---clip---clip---clip---clip---clip---clip---clip---clip---clip---clip---clip---clip If the subject is too bright or too dark or visibly tinted, the message “WB NG RETRY” will be displayed and no value will be recorded. For underwater photography we recommend to set White Balance to "underwater" mode. ---clip---clip---clip---clip---clip---clip---clip---clip---clip---clip---clip---clip So, I made TERRIBLE MISTAKE when I bought E-PL2. Don't you guys do the same. It is just toy camera for the kids, if you are thinking of buying it for diving... Jyri | Jpl225 19 point member

| | Hold on ... I'm all mixed up. were you shooting with available light, or with strobes? If with strobes, why can't the white balance be set accordingly? And if with available light, is there a WB setting for "underwater?" If there is no WB setting for underwater with available light, why can't you shoot RAW format images, and adjust the white balance in post processing? Thanks! | Strugglinlee 32 point member

| | I was shooting with available light. In the camera, like any camera, there is a WB setting for underwater for kids, but that is not for professional photography - you have to set WB for yourself manually. Of course I shoot RAW pictures, but even RAW can't do miracles: if there is not enough information in the picture, no post processing cannot bewitch it there. That's why you need to adjust WB yourself manually before you shoot. I used before Canon G9 and I have no problem with it. Actually I put it in same test that E-PL2. First I try to adjust WB in dimmed room - no problem with G9, but E-PL2 just keeps saying: "WB NG Retry". Then I went to my room, killed all lights and adjust WB with G9 - again no problem. E-PL2 of course has problems. I'm not saying that to advertising Canon, but to saying what to expect from E-PL2. I though that Olympus makes professional cameras, but I was wrong. Or at least E-PL2 is a toy, if you are concerning that for diving. That is my opinion.
