North Rock Gutters

   Australia  Tasman Sea
One main gutter with several smaller gutters and bommies. It is part of the Port Stephens - Great Lakes Marine Park, and is classified as a general purpose zone (fishing is allowed). Its not uncommon to see sharks with fish hooks in their mouth or line comng from the mouth. The main gutter runs almost in a North/South direction. At the southern end of the gutter is where you can find large schools of baitfish and this is where the sharks are in greatest numbers. In years gone by the sharks would be here from Feb to May, but in the last 2 - 3 years they have been here on nearly every day that we have been here/

Large group of rocks with silty bottom around 25m deep. This spot is known for concentrating several individuals of small-spotted catsharks (Scyliorhinus canicula), known in Portuguese as "pata-roxa", a species which is relatively rare along the Portuguese coast due to overfishing.

Fakarava South Pass, Tuamotus

   French Polynesia  Pacific
Spectacular site, both for snorkeling and diving. On the incoming current, the water clarity is exceptional. Sharks are everywhere, literally 100's, all around. We saw black tips, white tips, and grays, others saw lemons. Incredible variety of species of reef fish, very accessible to snorkelers. Lots of Napoleon wrasses, groupers, parrot fish, triggers, and pretty much every other specie found in French Polynesian waters. We dove and snorkeled for about 10 days, never got bored, saw new things every dive. Dives for best sharks were between 80 and 100', while the snorkeling was very shallow, most in only 15-20'.

Daedalus Reef (south side)

   Egypt  Red Sea
Pomacentridae are a family of perciform fish, comprising the damselfishes and clownfishes. They are primarily marine, while a few species inhabit freshwater and brackish environments (e.g., Neopomacentrus aquadulcis, N. taeniurus, Pomacentrus taeniometopon, Stegastes otophorus). They are noted for their hardy constitutions and territoriality. Many are brightly colored, so they are popular in aquaria. [Wikipedia]
