We drove 14 hours straight to find the leafy sea dragon. It was worth every minute of the drive. They really are the most incredible fish.  Watching them move so peacefully throughout their habitat is something I'll always remember.

Kelp forests capture my imagination far more then any reef. Theres something mysterious and magical about them. I had this shot in my minds eye for a while and was just lucky the conditions allowed me to pull it off. Nikon d80, 18-55mm, natural light

This weedy sea dragon was laden with eggs when I spotted it weaving in and out of a seagrass bed. The late afternoon light made for some dramatic wide angle shots.
