Taken in a pool in Oslo, after a bit of preparation. What is up and what is down? I can't really tell anymore... Not photoshopped (apart from normal adjustments) but I thought 'creative' was the right category anyway :-)
shortlistedShortlisted!
The free-swimming hydromedusae Gonionemus murbachii. Nikon D300s in Nauticam housing, 2 x Inon Z-240 strobes.
shortlistedShortlisted!
Lake Lygnstøylsvatnet, Norway. I 1908, a rockslide closed off the valley and it was flooded by the river. Some of the rocks are huge! This one must be older than the landslide though; it has trees growing on it ;-)
A goldentail moray getting real up close and personal at Invisibles, Bonaire. Nikon D300 in Nexus housing, 2z Inon Z-240 strobes.
Silver Medal Silver Medal 2010

Final RoundThrough to 2010 awards final round judging
This Eubranchus farrani was sitting on the edge of a kelp front, getting ready to take off. I was able to catch it in mid-water as it floated by. Nikon D300 in Nexus housing, 2x Inon Z-240 strobes.
shortlistedShortlisted!
A very cooperative specimen of the little goby Buenia jeffreysii. Nikon D300 in Nexus housing, twin Inon Z-240 strobes.
shortlistedShortlisted!
Lesser swimming crab, Polybius pusillus. Yes, that is a spine from a sea urchin underneath it. The crab looks quite grumpy, so it might be kept as a defensive weapon ;-)
Nikon D300 in Nexus housing, twin Inon Z-240 strobes.
Eubranchus farrani on a kelp frond. Nikon D300 in Nexus housing, twin Inon Z-240 strobes.
shortlistedShortlisted!
Another Eubranchus pallidus; this time with peculiar red pigment all over. Nikon D300 in Nexus housing, twin Inon Z-240 strobes.
The little (30 mmh) goby Lebetus scorpioides resting in an empty shell at the Gulen Dive Resort on the norwegian west coast. Nikon D300 in Nexus housing, 105mm + 1.4 converter, twin Inon Z-240 strobes.
Eubranchus pallidus on a background of tunicates. Gulen Dive Resort, Nikon D300 in Nexus housing with twin Inon Z-240 strobes.
shortlistedShortlisted!
What do you do when the strobes won't fire? Try another take at getting it together! Norwegian Topknot shot at f4.0, 1/60 and ISO 320 with a small focus light. Sometimes that can work too :-)
Manatee Love in Crystal Springs. Cute and cuddly animals!
Whip coral shrimp, Philippines. Loved the attitude on this one :-) Nikon D200, 105 mm, Nexus housing, 2x Inon Z-240 strobes.
The propellar at the Hilma Hooker wreck. Nikon D300 in Nexus housing, 2x Inon Z-240 strobes.
Norwegian topknot photographed without strobes and very limited depth of field.
VideoRay micro ROV in the Vinoy Reneissance Hotel pool in St. Petersburg, Florida. Nikon D300, 10,5 mm Nikon fisheye lens.
shortlistedShortlisted!
