Baby humpback whale in the waters of Vava'u, Tonga. This calf was quite interactive and checked us out a number of times.
This was my first use of the Canon 550D, Tokina 10-17mm lens and the ikelite housing - without strobe.

This pot bellied seahorse (Hippocampus abdominalis) was swimming around the top of the pier on a dive recently. It was a remarkably inquisitive seahorse - this shot was taken with a Tokina 10-17mm wide angle lens.

Small Galaxy - this egg mass was stirred up by boats next to the pier - some sand and backscatter removed from the picture.

This was what I was talking about earlier - this pot bellied seahorse was remarkably inquisitive. Ps sorry about the watermark but I'm travelling and don't have access to lightroom to change it...

Under the jetty! This is one of the reasons I love the temperate jetty life - the views are amazing!

Sea Hare egg mass - perhaps dropped from the pier above or stirred up from the nearby boat's propeller but as they are usually found on sandy sea floors I was surprised to see it above me (though quite happy to take advantage of the opportunity).

Mother and calf pair taken in vava'u, Tonga - this timid calf kept away from us but was in constant touch of mum and the obvious affection displayed was wonderful to see.

Banded coral shrimp taken while snorkelling using a compact canon D10 while inside one of the blow holes in Tonga - was a relatively calm day otherwise it would have been a bit too rough!

Taken with a canon D10 compact on macro setting off Euakafa Island while on snorkel. The sea urchin had a blue tinge but it was only when the flash went off that the iridescent blue came out!

Took this with my compact canon D10 camera while snorkelling under the pier with my students yesterday. Its a lions tail jelly but quite damaged. I have adjusted the temperature and removed some distracting light patches but liked how it came out...

Just to post something that's not a weedy seadragon, this juvenile Australian fur seal was a constant companion on this dive. Very poor vis at about 0.5 meters he/she was right at the dome peering in. ISO 100, 1/200 sec, Tokina 17mm

Another weedy seadragon under Portsea Pier. The vis was great and the weather beautiful - really enjoyed this dive and the seadragons of course! ISO 100, Tokina 10-17mm, f/18, 1/200 sec

This is a very young weedy seadragon taken towards evening off Portsea beach. He/she was only about 7-10 cm long and was pretty hard to find - more an accident really. ISO 100, f/14, Tokina 10-17mm, 1/200th sec.

This is a juvenile Weedy Seadragon (Phyllopteryx taeniolatus) pictured off Portsea Pier, Victoria, Australia. Normally hidden in the leafy plants common to the area this juvenile displayed a tendency to go to the surface when approached.
