visibility is usually fantastic, water temp usually 84 F!!! all year.
Saipan is on the Guinness book of world records for having the least annual temperature change = Summer 350 days out of the year, and 15 days of wind and rain.

United KingdomThe Lord Stewart
(33m) 248ft long, torpedoed by UB-104 in 1918. Stands 9m proud and has an iron prop and a small stern gun. Warning: phosphorus wedges have been found on the wreck, do NOT remove, as they ignite in contact with the air!!!

SpainThis site has never been dived, We found it while crossing the Atlantic on a yacht. 2 boats within 1 hour hit the same high on the sonar. If this didnt happen I would have said it was an unexplained anomoly. There is a chartered 70m bank but the peak of the mount is not charted. Now if anyone wants to venture out there, you know how to find me. Don't know what one would see out there, but what an adventure it would be to dive a site you know nobody has ever dove.
I selected the Spain as the country(site close to Azores) above because otherwise I could not submit so just ignore that.

United KingdomLittleton Lake (AKA pit) has been used by local clubs for training for years.
The viz can get quite reasonable (3M) when (like most freshwater) it hasn't rained recently (and thus carried mulch into the water).
For training it is fantastic year round and many land logged London divers keep their hands in here during the winter. There's a couple of cars and a platform (sunk by Hounslow BSAC 1988-ish).
There are a lot of fishermen and so a lot of fish here. I personally have seen a pike longer than me (5'5') my buddy measured me beside it. I have also seen 6 huge mirror carp in procession. On a good day (late summer) the water's warm and it is a pleasant dive. November is excellent night dive time (especially for divers afraid of the dark as nothing with attack you here!).
It's harder to get in to the little bay now. There used to be so many cars and divers walking kitted up across the blind curve on the busy road that someone closed off the entry point and stopped the parking. Check out the sailing club for the latest info.

Papua New Guinea Bismarck SeaA mile off shore or less, this site had large basket sponges, small walls with shark action, and plenty of reef fish. Noticeable were the unicorn fish that were being cleaned and turned an iradescent blue when they were happy. Clown fish and anenomes of several kind. Blind shrimp with gobies as look out. Soft coral of various colors. Currnt was barely noticeable. The water temp. was 90F.

Oman Arabian SeaFor me the dive that summed up our whole trip was Limah Rock. This is a large island that juts magnificently up from the sea. It is over 300m high and sinks down over 60m into the depths. We dived Limah Rock on our last day, the tide was just about to turn so there was no tide movement and the sea was flat calm it was perfect conditions for a dive. We stepped off the dive platform and slowly descended through what felt like an aquarium. The fish below us would move aside and as soon as we had passed the gap would close so that we were constantly surrounded.
This dive we were on a mission. The dive guide had told us that seahorses live on a large rock at 29m so we were off to find them. At that depth we would not have long so I was relieved to be able to see the rock from 20m away, there would be no searching in low visibility for us. Approaching the rock there was no seahorses to be seen. Then as we looked closer one was found holding onto a piece of soft coral. It was small and blended perfectly with its surroundings, using natural camouflage to hide from predators.
Unfortunately we did not have time to look for more but as we turned to ascend I was amazed at the sight that met me. From nearly 30m down I could see the bottom of our dhow. There were several pairs of divers gliding over coral through so many fishes that you could not possibly count them all. Silhouetted against the sun was a school of large batfish. I turned and looked along the reef. Larger fish were gathered a little way off, the water was so clear that they appeared to be floating in mid air with nothing to support them. Further up a shoal of fish swam by at speed as if they were in a rush to go somewhere important. We slowly made our way up the side of the reef looking into every hole and under every overhang.
I could not believe the colours in the coral. It seemed as if every colour you could think of was there in every shape imaginable. There was large soft cabbage coral in a soft green, spiky teddy bear coral in red and yellow, purple soft coral and no end of brown and green table coral. All too soon this dive was over and we had to ascend to the surface but it is one that will get a special mention in my log book.
The dive trip came to an end that day as we arrived back in Dibba but for the divers it will live with them a long time. We took nothing but pictures, we left nothing but bubbles......we will be back.

GermanyOne of the best lakes to dive in Germany is the "Bodensee" in southern Germany. The Bodensee, some 80 km long is bordered by Germany, Switzerland, and Austria (hey, that's Austria, not Australia !:)). One spot popular with divers is in the german town of Ueberlingen: deep, dark, cold and clear...vertical wall all the way dwon to 400 ft.

Malaysia South China SeaLayang Layang is an atoll 14 square kilometres in diameter jutting 2000 metres from the Ocean depths. In 1985, the Malaysian Federal Government began reclamation works and created a 50-acre island on one part of the reef. Thus, what is ardently known to East Malaysians as "Terumbu Layang Layang" or "Swallow's Reef" has now become Layang Layang Island
We had 5 days diving in Layang Layang (LL) this March. It was good and I would recommend it. The accommodation and food are fine - about 3 star UK hotel standard. The rental gear is adequate, but I would suggest if you are renting take your own extras such as a flag or DSMB, and a compass (LL is 300km offshore, has currents of about 1 knot off the ends of the island at times, and ocean swell). LL has a fleet of 9 or 10 identical dive boats, which are properly kitted out for the local conditions. Each boat holds about 10 divers. Only 2 boats were in use when we were there, because it was the start of the season and there weren't many guests. We were very impressed by the boatman - sharp-eyed and skillful. There are dive guides but you can dive on your own with a buddy if you prefer. The diving consists of big walls falling vertically to great depths, and coral plateaus. Plenty of fish including swirling shoals; sharks on most dives - we saw hammerheads, white tip reef, leopard, and grey reef sharks, often several on a dive; large marble rays, others saw manta also; exceptionally fine coral with many large fans, all in pristine condition. World-class diving, but unsuitable for beginners. The LL resort website is pretty accurate.

website You reach LL by air charter from Kota Kinabalu (KK) in Sabah. If you do go to LL, it might be worth doing a few days there and a few days in Sipadan, which is easily reached from KK.

Italy Mediterranean SeaI found this dive hard work on the legs but worth it. You start off by swimming down a crevice to a sandy-bottomed cave which ended up at about 26 m. Then there is a chimney that you go up where you end up at a more shallow depth. We saw a slipper lobster (that's the one with the funny looking armour. Good opportunity for macro with coral and nudibranchs, and also some good shots of a couple of eels and a huge fan mussel.
