Malapascua Island/Cebu

   Philippines  Visayan Sea
Monad Shoal is about a 15-20 minute boat ride from Malapascua Island. Malapascua Island is found off the northern end of the island of Cebu in the Philippines. It is accessed by ferry from the town of Maya. Monad Shoal is one of the few areas where you can routinely sight Thresher Sharks. It's not a 100% and there can be dry spells. I sighted Threshers in 3 out of 4 dives when made at the right time of day. In late October, early November, that means being in the water around 6 AM. I made a couple of dives later in the morning. No Threshers, but did see a nice octopus on one dive and some nice nudibranchs including a Neon Slug on the other. I made two afternoon dives there. On the first we had a nice Manta Ray sighting. It swooped in over us and just kept circling out and back in. My buddy with the video camera got 18 minutes of footage! On the other afternoon dive I made we didn't see Manta's that day, but I did see a couple of nice stonefish. It's in an exposed are and there can be a current, so something to be aware of. Visibility on a good day can be 60 ft+.... the average is closer to 30 ft. Lots of small fish life... cleaner wrasse, some anemone's and clownfish, saw some nice size batfish on one dive. All in all definitely worth the trip!

Migra ferha

   Malta  Mediterranean Sea
Pretty difficult (hard work) to get to the entry point unless you boat dive it.
Wind has to be perfect for the shore dive as the exit point can be difficult.

Mikes cupboard

   Mozambique  Indian Ocean
Beautiful Soft Coral covers this area of potholes, ledges and gullies, Flutefish, Trumpetfish, Crocodile fish, Lizardfish, leaf fish, are some of the wonders to be found around this site, a Loggerhead Turtle is also often in residence and Dolphins have been seen around this area too.

Always a relaxing dive which you can drift around and admire all the busy reef life that is so abundant here.

No matter how many times I did this dive it was fantastic.

Manta reef

   Mozambique  Indian Ocean
Famous for the Manta Rays it is named after this is a dive you will never forget, there are three cleaning stations which the Mantas circle around. Positioning yourself well and remaining still you can get these amazing creatures to float right over you, please be responsible do not reach out to touch!

The reef has a huge overhang where a Potato Bass is resident, while Red Fang Trigger Fish, Yellow Snappers, Bigeyes, Fusiliers and Trumpet fish are to be found all over the reef. Cleaner Wrasse of course are in abundance doing their job and occasionally a Devil Ray meanders in to see what is going on.

Often this is a negative entry dive.

I loved this dive seeing those amazing graceful creatures is a sight you will never forget.

Mainit point, Anilao Batangas

   Philippines
Diving here is really great! You'll love this site.
It's in slanting position so you'll never know that you're going really deep, but even though your in 100+ ft. the marine life is still very fantastic! Sometimes you'll even see sharks swimming along with the currents.
Photography here is great.
After diving here you can even go to the sombrero island and go a diver's picknick there. This is the best dive site for me!
If you'll have a chance to come here you might even change your favorite site!

Mellan Marviken (Krempan)

   Sweden
A small and very nice Swedish lake with alot of marinlife and good visibility (compered to other sites in Sweden).
Swedish freshwaterfish: Gadda(pike), Abborre(perch), Mort(roach) and Krafta(crayfish).
A long canoe trail goes through this lake, it starts in Akersstyckebruk and ends in the town of Trosa, so be caerful when you surface and look up as they are nearly soundless.

+ Easy entry and exit as the road goes just besides the lake. Good camping ground.
- Far from Diveshops and compressor nearest is aprox. 80km away in Stockholm, the capitol of Sweden.

Middle arch

   New Zealand  Pacific
Dive site is real choice. Middle arch is what it is, It's a large swim through which is equally exciting during the day as at night.
Large fish are found on the odd day, with the odd sting ray. I have just come back from a live aboard week end when i had chance to dive this wounderfull location at night. Fish life was abundant from the moment we entered the water until we surfaced.
At 17 metres I had the chance to video my dive buddy stroke the snout of a large sting ray just resting at the bottom just past the kelp line. It was amazing to see it eyes just flicker and it's lip turn up. Middle arch is home to all types of fish species some I have yet to learn the names of.
Another good dive is just out side of the arch where there is a large cave enterace where it is quite easy to enter, once inside it is fun to find a frog and teddy bear that some one had put there some years ago, always a thrill for tourist to find. The cave enterance is in about 14 metres of water and at the back you can accend to approx 8 metres where there is a air bubble you can swim up to and investigate, always good to see your self if you have a strong lite in the reflection of the water as you brake through. Before leaving the cave on our last dive it was just incredible the amount of big eye fish we encounterd just hanging around the enterance from blackness to the deep blue reflection from the outer enterace of the cave.
This dive site and many others can be found at the poor Knights !3 miles outside of Tutukaka north island of New Zealand

Maaya Thila

   Maldives  Indian Ocean
The most awesome Night Diving experience. In fact I can't think of a single experience in my 45 + years experience of life that comes close to the action on this underwater hill every night.

The biggest, meanest looking, Barracuda I have ever seen.

Sharks run scared of him.

Fantastic.

Medas Islands, L’Estarti on the Costa Brava

   Spain  Mediterranean Sea
L’Estarti can be overcrowded, cattle boat diving at peak times so avoid holidays and weekends in high season. Dutch, Belgian, German, and French divers have already discovered L’Estarti and flock from their inland cities at holidays and weekends.

The marine reserve takes 280 divers per hour at peak periods with the various dive operations having allotted slots on specified sites and times – a bit like a landing slot at Heathrow. However, the system works. The multitudinous Gorgonia are not kicked to bits as you might expect, though they are more profuse and pristine at greater depths.
