Dwejra Gozo

   Malta  Mediterranean Sea
Dwejra has about 4 dive sites and a multitude of possibile dives. You can start from the inland sea and swim out through a tunnel, start from the Blue hole and then swim out. You can also opt for a boat dive to Crocodile rock where depths of 40m are easily reached. The swim out of the tunnel has some spectacular photographic opportunities, and it was this site that encouraged me to take up underwater photography. There is also the Coral Garden, with some lovely colours. There is also a large cave to the right of the inland sea, but this should be undertaken as a boat dive as there is a long swim.

Its one of the few place in the Maltese archipelago where one can see large groupers.

One of the main attractions of this area is the colour of the sea. The blue here is like nowhere else in Malta or Gozo.

This area is very popular with tourists all year round.

I hope more people visit the islands to see our extensive heritage, the oldest erect building in the world is in Malta, and our clear blue waters with many wrecks and sites to visit.

Look for Malta and diving on the internet, and you will find some interesting pictures of what is available in Malta.

Knutshaug, Hitra

   Norway  Atlantic
TURUT is not a large commercial scuba related company, but a happy couple with a keen interest in scuba diving who can take you on a very personal vacation with a group of socially aware people!

We arrange week long scuba trips to the island Hitra several times a year. We stay in comfortable appartements at Knutshaug Fishing Resort on Dolmøy, and we run boat dives 3 times a day. One day we go onboard a larger boat for a 10 hour journey through the skerries of Mausund and Sula. Hitra offers tremendous cold water UW-fauna, excillarating drift dives through narrow sounds, wrecks, and UW-hunting usually leading to food on the table.

Bunaken National Park

   Indonesia  Asian Sea
The waters of Bunaken National Marine Park are extremely deep (1566 m in Manado Bay), clear (up to 35-40 m visibility), refreshing in temperature (27-29 C) and harbor some of the highest levels of biodiversity in the world. Pick any of group of interest - corals, fish, echinoderms or sponges - and the number of families, genera or species is bound to be astonishingly high. For example, 7 of the 8 species of giant clams that occur in the world, occur in Bunaken. The park has around 70 genera of corals compare this to a mere 10 in Hawaii. Although the exact number of fish species is unknown, it may be slightly higher than in the Philippines, where 2,500 species, or nearly 70 of all fish species known to the Indo-western Pacific, are found.
Oceanic currents may explain, in part, why Bunaken National Marine Park is such a treasure trove of biodiversity. Northeasternly currents generally sweep through the park but abundant counter currents and gyros related to lunar cycles are believed to be a trap for free swimming larvae. This is particularly true on the south side of the crescent-shaped Bunaken Island, lying in the heart of the park. A snorkler or diver in the vicinity of Lekuan or Fukui may spot over 33 species of butterfly fish and numerous types of groupers, damsels, wrasses and gobies. The gobies, smallish fish with bulging eyes and modified fins that allow them to attach to hard surfaces, are the most diverse but least known group of fish in the park.
Biologists believe that the abundance of hard corals is crucial in maintaining the high levels of diversity in the park. Hard corals are the architects of the reefs, without them, numerous marine organisms would be homeless and hungry. Many species of fish are closely associated with particular types of corals (folious, branching, massives, etc.) for shelter and egg-laying. Others, like the enormous Bumphead Parrotfish, Balbometopon muricatum, are coralivores and depend on hard corals for their sustenance. Bony mouth parts fused into an impressive beak allow these gregarious fish to crunch corals like roasted peanuts.
Good dive site for all divers. Wall dives and shallow reefs with good visibility of 20-30m. Coelacanths are found here!

Lang Tengah Island

   Malaysia  South China Sea
Hi!
My name is Bryan and Im from Dcoconut Lagoon Island Resort, Malaysia.
We operate a dive resort on Lang Tengah Island which is a neighboring island to Redang Island, off the East Coast of Malaysia.
Lang Tengah is one of the most popular dive destinations in Malaysia.
The island itself has 12 dive sites which are easy on the divers and enjoyable.
Besides that, there are several spots perfect for snorkeling.
If divers are interested in diving at Redang Island, it will only take a 30 minutes boat ride from Lang Tengah.
Besides the fact that Dcoconut Lagoon is a dive resort, it also provides a relaxing paradise ambience for the guests.
We also do offer dive courses and dive packages which can be tailored to your preference. We are looking forward to working with you.

Diver's Dream

   Trinidad and Tobago
We were diving for two weeks every single day, did dives on both ends of the island, but, couldn't get enough of Diver's Dream, we dove with Manta Dive on Pigeon Point Road, and they were just fantastic!! Very friendly and well organized... I prefer diving on the southern end, off Crown Point, however.

Bali Dived Site In General

   Indonesia  Indian Ocean
----- SCUBA Dive In Resort Bali Indonesia Online Information -----

Geography and Climate
The island of Bali was shaped by the action of volcanoes, which produced the rich, black soils that nourish Bali's beautiful and productive rice paddies.
Just 8-9 south of the equator, Bali is always warm-a mean 27.2 C, although the highlands are about 6 C cooler. Humidity is an almost constant 75 persent. Most of Bali's annual 2,500-3,000 millimeters of rain falls from November through March.

Bali's great strength is that it is NOT isolated. The island's reefs are ideally positioned to recieve a cosmopolitan assortment of plankton and juvenile animals from the Indonesia Throughflow, a massive flow of water that passes from the Pacific to the Indian Ocean. Because of this combination, perhaps Bali is just to familiar to be considered a great diving area.

Dive Sites
There are five main areas for diving in Bali, working counter clockwise around the island from the airport in the south: Nusa Dua and Sanur; Nusa Penida; Candi Dasa (Padang Bai, Gili Mimpang, Gili Tepekong); Amed/Cemeluk and Tulamben; Pemutaran, Menjangan and Gilimanuk ( Secret Bay). Each area offers dive locations for novice, intermediate and advanced divers. At most sites, divers can plan a dive to match their degree of experience, and dives can be made around the year.

Depth of dives
The best diving lies between 5 and 40 meters.

Marine Life
The varied inhabitants of Bali's reefs. " different fields, different grasshoppers."

Visibility
Variable, 5-15 m, exceeds 30 m.

Water Temperature
Normally 26 - 27 C (78 - 80 F). During July and August, the temperature drops to 21 C (70 F)

High seasons
July-August and around Christmas and New Year.

Highlights
The Liberty Wreck 120 meters long Tulamben,
Wooden anker wreck, cave and craggy wall Menjangan,
Pelagics, and between the months of August - November Mola-Mola (Sunfish) at Nusa Penida,
Rare critters muck diving at Secret Bay/Gilimanuk
Canyon at Gili Tepekong/Cand Dasa

Other
Very tricky current, strong surge, uncomfortably cold in some dive sites.

Chesil Beach

   United Kingdom  Atlantic
A bit of a scramble over large shingle wherever you get in. Most divers prefer the shelter at the Portland end. The beach slope quickly (making it tricky to get back onto when you're tired at the end of a dive and the swell pulls you back. It's a bit indignified crawling out on your kneees but at least you know that everyone who has tried managed it!
The marine life ranges from dogfish (yes, they're sharks) to dustbin sized Rhizostoma Pulmo Jellyfish.
There are wrecks too. Park in the Portland rd big car park.
Excellent range of British marine life, wreck, what more do you want!

Ho Bi Hu (Kenting)

   Taiwan  East China Sea
The Southern tip of Taiwan is home to a variety of easily accessible dive sites. One of our favorite ones is located just outside of the beach town of Kenting. Ho Bi Hu, is located (often the butt of jokes) quite near to a nuclear power station. It is sheltered by a breakwater on one side and protective shoreline on the other making something of a small bay. The put-in point is accessible by car and deep channels eroded into the dead coral shore make it fairly easy to get to during both high and low tide. The water is warm and the visibility is very good during the winter months however strong winds can bluster creating side-shore surface currents. Most times however, the bay is fairly calm. The channels get deeper and deeper until they drop over a wall to about 10 meters. Divers can then swim along sandy bottoms inbetween widely spaced balmies. Lots of good soft corals in abundance. Plenty of Angel Fish, Bat Fish, Trigger fish, Wrasses and smaller types. Lion fish are also very common here. I have seen large octopus and cuttle fish in this area from time to time.

Ho Bi Hu is a very good introduction to diving in Southern Taiwan although it can be very crowded from time to time, especially in the summer and spring. Anoyances include large parties of snorklers who appear in the spring and summer who cannot swim but are issued life jackets and cling to large floating devices issued by tour companies.

We typically use Ho Bi Hu for Open Water Dives #3 and #4 when teaching students.

If you would like to find out more about dives sites in Southern Taiwan and elsewhere in the country or perhaps you are visiting Taiwan and would like to do some fun dives, or perhaps you live and work in Taiwan and you would like take some PADI Scuba Diving courses, please contact us.
