Darlington

   Bermuda  Atlantic (North American coastal)
This 286 foot steel hulled freighter made a navigational error and sank in 1881 en-route from New Orleans to Bremen. Steam boilers, propeller shaft and deck winches highlight the dive.

Dive site the "Tug Boat" on the south side of Curacao, near Caracus bay.

   Netherlands Antilles  Caribbean Sea
Great site for both diving and snorkeling. The sunken tug boat after which the site is names, sits in only 15ft. of water so is accessible to snorklers.
For a great dive, drive one car to "Directors Bay", which is about 5mins away in the car, and drift with the prevailing current around the coast ending up back at the "Tug Boat". Then get a lift to go pick up your car.

David Tucker wreck dive (with Stuart Cove's scuba)

   Bahamas  Caribbean Sea
The David Tucker wreck sits at approx. 45 feet. We went with Stuart Cove's scuba as this was the excursion offered by the cruise line. Haven't done much scuba in the Bahamas (in fact this was my first time there in over 25 years) so can't honestly compare this to other Bahamas dive sites. All I can compare this to is other dive sites not in Bahamas, and if so, I would rate this as fair to good, but certainly not spectacular.

I do want to say however that the staff at Stuart Cove's scuba was very professional. They have a large operation, with many boats and busses, and did a very good job getting everyone on and off the boat safely, provided transportation to and from the pier (or hotel), had good working radios, O2, etc., on each of the boats, so if I was going to return to Nassau, would not hesitate to use them again.

My dissatisfaction was that only having 50 feet visibility, but that probably had more to the time of year, time of day, weather, etc. (in all fairness, there was hurricane several weeks back), than the particular dive site.

Dibba rock

   United Arab Emirates
island with a depth of 10 - 15 metres on the seaward side and 5 - 7 on the shore side. access is by boat although a surface swim from the shore is possible if u are a good swimmer. However due to the building of hotels on the sea front access is an issue however, there is a an excellent dive center opposite the island (freestyle divers) which do boat trips to the site. there are things to keep every diver happy on this dive site from the small to the large with whale sharks sometimes around. turtle and blacktip reef sharks are almost Guaranteed species along with most of the local species on display for the diver and snorkeller alike to observe on a shelter and beauitiful dive site

Derawan island

   Indonesia  Celebes Sea
Hard to get to and expensive to dive but well worth the effort. At the moment there are only two divecentres on the island. Diving is organised off speedboats or from shore. The reefs are nice but for me the best dives are under and in between the numerous jetties. Lots of green turtles can be found munching the seagrass and excellent macro stuff under the jetties. You can easily take some great pics while snorkling at low tide in 20-30cm of water.
Vis is generally around 15m and water temp 28C

Dixie Arrow - Hatteras, N.C.

United States  Atlantic (North American coastal)
Wreck is about 85-90 feet in depth. Sharks, mostly reef and black tips, glide over the wreck in majestic fashion. The Dixie Arrow was a freighter sunk in the 1940`s aprox. 7 miles from shore by a u-boat. Many men burned to death as the ship sunk to its final resting place.
The clearity was extremely good this day as several 12-14 foot sharks like this one cruised the wreck. I would highly recommend this dive to fully experienced divers.

Dolphin Aquarium/shipwreck reef

United States  Atlantic (South America coastal)
Incredible dive with very "people friendly" dolphins. Expensive dive but funds go to dolphin research.

D'Lagoon, Perhentian Kecil

   United Kingdom  South China Sea
Dive site is a shallow lagoon (max depth 12m) in a sheltered sandy bay. There is normally no current and the area is roped off for snorkelers to use, so it's a popular site with lots of boat traffic and for that reason care needs to be taken if diving on the deeper outside edge of the lagoon. It has a large coral reef with densely packed coral heads fringing the lagoon. Experienced divers will probably want to dive along the fringing edge and avoid the shallower snorkeling areas.
