This Southern stingray had just settled in the sand. I took a few close-up shots and signalled to my buddy to go, then remembered the rule "Get close. When you are close enough get closer." So I turned back for one last shot. This one.

I really feel you get a sense of just how prehistoric this animal is from the underwater Photo. Did you know that males can reach lenghts of 6.0 m (20ft) and weigh up to 900 kgs (2000 lb)? This photo was taken in Jardines de La Reina, Cuba.

Capturing an over under is difficult with a heavy housed camera, so I balanced the housing on my head to get this shot. Call me crazy. It was only way to do it.

Did you know that Goliath Groupers can weigh up to 360 kgs and that they only reach maturity around 180 kgs?
This grouper was photographed in Cuba and was very inquisitive, as almost all groupers. I really feel like it is posing for the camera.
