Inspired by nearby competition, this male humpback put some serious power into this series of forward lunges. In 7 years of whale watching, I had never seen a lunge like this from this angle. Taken with a canon 350d and 70-300 lens.

This image was taken in Guadalupe Islanda in October 2008 using a Nikonos RS with a 20-35mm lens. THs film I used was Fuji Velvia 100 speed, f8 at approximately 125. Color corrected in photoshop CS.

The cenote (sinkhole/collapsed water cave) in this picture is an hour's drive from Progreso, Yucatan, Mexico. Behind the frightened minnow to the left and the plant are the dark recesses of an underwater cave explored to date only 600 yards in.
